I probably should no buy into this but here goes anyway.

Given that the members of this forum are into something that is considered taboo, frowned upon by other members of society and is considered gross and disgusting by a lot of people, I would have thought we would have open minds about people and their beliefs and ideals. Clearly this is not the case with statements like the above. I do not wish to understate the tragedy of September 11 but why do people condemn a whole nation or religion based on the actions of a few!

It is the narrow mindedness of those few fundamentalists that are the cause of this and not the whole nation. I know there is a war and that is whole other issue that could open a big debate and its legitimacy. I have been to the U.S about 5 times and in fact last year drove from Orlando to LA. On my first trip I met some of the most obnoxious and arrogant people I have ever met. Did this stop me from going back of course not because I knew I just had the misfortune of meeting a bad batch if you like. Since then I have made many life long friends. I have had similar experiences with people from many nations, cultures and religions. I realise the events of September 11 cut deep and here in Australia we have also seen first hand the effect of these terrorists. However I am not going to hate someone I have never met and never done anything to me just because some of his compatriots have chosen to follow this path.

Should we condemn the whole United States armed forces for the actions of corporal Lindy England and some of her fellow soldiers in Iraq. Certainly not!

By anti-western, do you actually mean anti-american? Because if you do, I have something that may or may not be news to you:

It's not just muslims, it's basically everyone.

Plus, I have several muslim friends. We hardly agree on anything, but the same can be said for me and all my christian friends (I'm not religious, btw. If I were, I'd probably think all of us are going to hell), or for that matter my two vegan friends (who I actually agree with, I'm just to lazy to do anything about it). That doesn't mean I'm at "war" with any of them. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Well...Have been living and working in Dubai (which is far more open minded) and Bahrein I have to agree about the statement ...They hate western people and our lifestyle. Im not even American (or British) but could feel it anyway..all the time! Just have to move on..couldent stand their morals...

But Ozzie the problem is that most of the Arab world agree with what the few nutcases are doing in their name. I know a few Muslims and i can tell you that they hate the west...... and these people are living in Europe running businesses.
