My experience is that when you start calling for example a friend overseas or family they get on the alert. Especially when your native language is not english. Whenever you mention a name of a person (or their name) their ears are like radar. If you talk english be very cautious. Especially with lb's or girls who act like they don't understand english. Many understand more than we sometimes expect or realize. For example:
One of my ex lb friends was very jealous when I called friends or family and didn't speak english on the phone.
Every time I did this I got an opposite reaction like ignoring me , acting very childish or a very arrogant behaviour like being a superstar thailand. And on those days no fun. On the other hand she telephoned with her friends many times during a day and of course speaking thai only. Once I made a remark on that and of course a very nice reaction .Maybe it was her bad consience because later I found out that she had aprox. 14 thai boyfriends. This ended a very "happy relation- and sponsorship". ( by the way this so called superstar thailand is now living on beach road /Pattaya and if you like to play russian roulette on your health take her out)
But I never experienced the things you describe. Maybe because many lb's called me a turtle.

And another thing: Do not go home and send SMS via your Thai mobile. My Thai SIM card just logs into german E-Plus Network and I can send and receive SMS as long as I have credit.

I did so a few hours ago just to announce that I returned save and say "I miss you" to a new best friend in Pattaya. Now I am nothing but a big liar and cheater because she "knows" that Thai SIMs only work in Thailand.

What means that I am still in Bangkok and fooling around with other LBs.

First I tried to explain but it seems worthless to argue with a LB about roaming.
