I was considering taking a drive up through Issan, hopefully meeting up with LBs in the various cities. I'd be interested to hear of anyone's experience with travelling around Issan and finding LBs.

Looking for the young, fresh and unspoiled Issaan girls! Brilliant idea and a very good decision to search away from the Pukhet, NEP, Patty hotspots. I remember some very nice adventures in Buriram, Udon Thani and Khon Kaen. But that was 10 years ago and just examples. You'll find them all over Thailand. There are no LB bars in Issaan. Sometime you'll find some small cabarets, but normally they are just students, work as hairdressers or just hang around somewhere. So take your time, it's not as easy as walking into Cascades! And try to do some research before where and when they have their beauty pagents over there. You'd see literally hundreds of stunning beauties who are still in their pre-hooking period - that's the best you can ever find in LOS!

good for you but good luck. we are all tranny obsessed so spending the time isnothing new. But what about the language barrier etc. Maybe you should go to Obsessions or one of the tranny joints in BKK and pay one of the girls from ISSAN $x.xx dollars to come up with you and show you the shows etc. Rent a car and take her up for a week or however long it takes if you can and then fly her home from OBAN or KORAT or wherever after you hook up. If not it will be like your going to KANSAS in the US and not speaking English and driving around wasting your time. It is my advise for what it is worth Pal.

I found that I never wasted my time. Even in areas where nobody speaks any language that you've ever heard of and where even BKK people wouldn't have a clue how to talk. Maybe it's a kind of hunter/explorer thing that I always loved and really nothing is more satisfying than discovering some beauties between the bamboo huts. Some unspoiled wonderful craetures!
That's what made those trips so special for me. I always try to avoid counting days and money when I'm travelling - which would be a kind turn-off for me. Otherwise, when I only have 10 days or so, I'd go straight to Cascades or Phuket, but that's not travelling for me, it's just a pretty expensive and exhausting brothel-tour.
But again this is just my very personal experience and opinion.

thanks  MK, that actually sounds like a very interesting way to spend a few weeks.  I rented a car once and travelled up around Chiang Rai for 10 days last year but I was with a ladyboy; I think going alone to somewhere like Issan would certainly be an adventure.   Unfortunately I would still have to check my e-mail daily lest it back up and I come back to reality and have 300 e-mails waiting and numerous unhappy customers        

      could be fun.....Jeff has  invited me up to Khorat for a few days [week?]  around the new year and that is something I am planning on for sure; I have never been to Issan before.

MK are on the same page on this. I'm not going to Issan just to hook up. That's easy to do. It is the excitment of a exploring a new place and meeting new people. I've been in rural Thailand before and while there is a language barrier I get by. While I was hoping to general advice on the concept of the trip, I was also hoping to hear if anyone has any specific suggested destinations. Anyone?

I would recommend the same  driving trip that I took in May of last year;  rented a car in Chiang Mai and headed due north, past Chiang Rai and even found some cool waterfalls near the Loation border and met some locals in the home village of a friend.  very beautiful up that far;  I am from New England and it reminded me of home.  if you go between december 1 and march 30 you can even have some very cool nights, sometimes   getting as low as 5 degrees celsius, followed  by crisp, clear days.

  hopefully Chuck Wow reads this thread.....he spends a lot of time up around there.

last week i was up udon thani.. the night life is fairly dull, but i ended up finding a karoyke bar and sat there and watched all the pretty thai girls go up on stage and sing their issan songs.. it was way cool because the only farangs there were myself and my buddy.. after about an hour a couple of young Lbs came into the bar and wouldn't you know they took their turn and got up onstage and sang their songs.. one ladyboy in particular was on stage swaying her perfectly shaped hips and ass to the music.. this pretty little ladyboy was very hot and when she got off stage i was actually thinking of going an introducing myself to her.. however before i had a chance a couple of thai guys came in and sat with the two ladyboys.. a sight you really do not see in bkk or puhkett, or pattaya.. these thai guys were obvisiously the ladyboys boyfriends...

one think i like going up country over here is the genuine feeling of friendliness you get from the thai people.. few months ago i was in chiang mai and was very impressed with how friendly all the thais were.. issan is even more friendly.. the only problem i encountered in udon thani was a serious lack of thais that speak the english language.. when you go to issan be prepared to get a menu at rest without an english version to it.. i am convinced if you want to learn to speak a little thai, go to issan for a couple of months.. you will have no choice other to learn the language a little.. rod

So true, Khun Rod.  And if you hang around Issan long enough you may find yourself picking up pasaa issan, which is a very different dialect to what is heard in bangkok (passaa klaang).

Issan is one of my favorite places in Thailand.  So, people, rent the car and head the hell out of Bangkok into the heart and soul of Thailand.  You won't regret it.  

PS - Just be careful about night driving.  Sometimes the roads, and even highways, up there just kind of end w/out much warning.  I remember when we were cruising down the highway near Ubon one night when we spotted a very small sign which, in Thai, said to take a detour due to construction.  If we had missed it, we would have ended up in a pit 200 feet ahead.

Great story Rod! Actually that's how I met once a wonderful LB, with whom I spent 2 weeks together afterwards. Nightlife in Issaan is pretty much a Disco and Karaoke bar thing and those bars are actually the places where you find whatever you're looking for. All local youngsters go there - boys, girls, LB's. I love to be the only farang in those areas, you get a lot of attraction and it's easy to chat up whoever you want. Just be careful if a jealous bf is hanging around somewhere - then it can get VERY nasty! But in "bigger" cities like Udon are always some kind of half-pro's/freelancers as well, so you wont be in danger of sleeping alone...

@ JD: Yes my friend, please do it - you will love it!!! If you go north, please try the area around Lampang/ Lamphoon/ Mae Hong Song. Fantastic landscape, pretty rural, unspoiled and interesting ethnic mixtures Karen/BurmeseThai. My favorite Issaan area is the Cambodian border round Surin, Buriram and over to Ubon. There is a saying that the most sexy girls in Thailand are coming from Buriram - that counts for the LB's as well (if you like the Issaan type!)

actually the only bad things I have ever heard about her is that she sometimes has a very bitchy attitude [true], and that she unfortunately appeared with the hairy guy on his website getting sodomized and then had the audacity to deny that it was really her [also true; I heard that myself and almost died laughing].  besides that she is usually a very nice girl and of course truly beautiful.  I always thought she was a TS version of Jennifer  Lopez;  I first met her when she was just turning 18 and just off the bus from Issan and she was  just a great person and oh so beautiful.   by the way....she is very close to her mum and they talk almost every day.  I also hear she now has a "sponsor" who has taken her out of the bar scene.

I wanted to reply to this post yesterday but I  knew that I would be drinking tonight so I waited. Yes , it is a wildly beautiful , rustic place in Thailand to go see. However if you only have 7-10 days to party in Thailand I would suggest staying in BKK or pattaya for your little sex vacations. In Issan they do NOT speak ANY english , LADYBOYS ARE FAR AND FEW INBETWEEN and they shoot farang on sight . there are no taxi's , no western food  and if you do meet the " girl of your dreams " she will not want to give you the " girlfriend exp. " she will want to marry you and make dam sure that NOBODY ever even looks at you or she will cut off your nuts faster than you can say.. Anon ( god rest her sweet piece of ass soul ) .
When I go there ( and I have to ) one saying always comes to mind  " Toto , were not in Kansas any more " The      beautiful "ladies " that you meet in Bangkok , from Issan are NOT like that in Issan . You hear that " oh , I was the only farang in the place ...so cool " well guess what  ? After two days of that you are dieing to get back to the dark side . They eat bugs !!! Keep you ugly lilly white ass out of Issan !
