  • Avoid obsessions and layla - must read

I went to obsession, hoping to meet mickey. She was not working but while I was chatting with another girl, whose name I forgot but I saw her pic on the site, I saw Lyla. I had emailed and phoned Lyla before.

I paid the barfine (600B) and we went upstairs to the short time rooms. I paid the short time cost (300B). While i was showering I had a bad feeling. Sure enough, as I shut the shower off I quickly looked into the bedroom and saw Lyla taking money from my pants.

She did not deny it of course, I caught her red-handed. She only tried to apologize. I remained calm. I looked in my pants and noticed 3000 baht was missing. I told her to give it to me and she handed me the 3000 baht.

I dressed and went back to obsessions to complain. The mamasan did nothing. So I contacted the tourist police. They politely listened to my story but naturally did nothing as well.

It is only up to all of us to do something about this behavior. My opinion is we must boycott all bars and girls that do this type of thing. When a girl does this we must try at least to complain to the mamasan, tell the police, and not let it happen to another tourist.

So, my bottom line is, at the very least, avoid Lyla and Obsession.

For whatever it's worth, the tourist police told me to avoid Obsessions and Casanova, and that Cascade was the only bar they thought could be trusted.

wow, thanks for the update, Bayhill....... too bad little Lyla had to resort to that nonsense, but after seeing her on the hairy guys website I am not surprised.

as I have mentioned here before, I always thought that girl was "all business".... But I didn't know her business included stealing. thanks again.

So, should we put our wallet in a plastic bag and take it into the shower? I don't think I'd ever want to let it out of my sight.

Btw, what do we need to keep on us when we're out? What do the police require, if ever, from tourists? I don't like the idea of taking my passport along when I go out. Should I leave it in the hotel safe, or is that not safe either?
      Bring on the bitches!

make a photocopy of the passport and take that with you.........leave the passport at the hotel and indeed many hotels even make you leave it with them at reception.

sorry to hear about that. next time just take the exact amount you need and leave your passport at home. Who needs that aggravation.

I always hear about, to make a Photocopy from my Passport.
I never was asked for my Passport and if i get asked isn't it enough to have my Id card ?

well, until recently us farangs never needed ANY type of ID card; but now we can't even get into the bars on Khoa San road without a passport or legible copy of one. ID cards won't work there and I have seen westerners well into their 30's being rejected because they didn't have a copy of their passport.

make 2 or 3 copies before you leave home or have it done in BKK for 20 baht.....leave the original in your safe or with reception and carry a folded copy in your back pocket whenever you go out. this was Snick's advice to me and I am just passing it on.

Sorry to hear about that experience bayhill but for what its worth I think you did the right thing in keeping calm and notifying who you did...guess all we can do is try and keep our wits about us!

i think it can help to make a point of checking all your stuff b4 you go and shower, this lets the gal know your switched on..

Personally I prefer to spend the night window shopping and then picking up my fave for some long time.
Sure its more expensive but the atmosphere in your room is then a lot more relaxed and less business like, and you can put your valuables in the room safe!

I Have stayed at a few places where security has even rang me in my room to ask if things were ok b4 they gave the girl her id back when she was leaving.

if you must do the short time put your wallet in your smelly socks and shoes! u know what they think about feet!

On my final night of my recent trip to Thailand and Singapore I transitted through Bangkok.

Liked the look of Lyla from my visits to Obsessions the previous week and as I am addicted to strange I chose to take her back to my room as opposed to a repeat with Mickey - bad choice!

While Lyla didn't rip me off I found her to be a cold fish and a disappointing waste of my last night in LOS.

                    Win some, lose some.

Good that you kept your head about you though.

In regards to ID Its a lot stricter now than in the past.
ALWAYS have a copy of your Passport and that copy SHOULD ALSO have a copy of the page with the visa stamp.
I have heard of cases where cops have raided a bar and taken Farangs to the precinct who did not have a passport, then they had to wait until someone fetched their passport for them.

This is the Government's way of becoming the Tourist hub of Asia
To becoming the shopping hub of Asia they close all the malls at 10pm
To become the air transport hub of Asia they hike the landing fees and delay the new airport.
To become the fasion hub of Asia, they send the ministry of culture to fashion shows to check for nipple exposure.
and To become the IT hub of Asia they offer expensive internet access and make Voice Over IP illegal.

just a little extra cynical this morning

I never carry more than what I need for the night, just a few thousand baht. And I don't carry a wallet, just keep it in my pocket. But I like the idea of letting the LB know that I KNOW how much I have with me.

I prefer the short-time rooms. I always seem to have trouble getting them to leave if I take them back to my hotel.

I thought about staying in front of Obsessions and warning customers going in. But that the liquor talking and not taking the high road. I would have been beaten up and in some alley for sure.
