The general tone of the message board is tame nowadays compared to what it used to be.

Thankfully the assholes eventually either move on or get kicked out.

In fact I think that the strong and fair minded moderating team of this forum have made this message board the best meeting place on the internet.

There IS a certain amount of elitism and I'm not going to change that. If anyone wants 'in' then all they have to do is post according to the reasonable guidelines set out.

Controversy is the bread and water of any forum but the way this is handled is what makes or breaks your online community.

  Stogie is on vacation starting today ..... probably won't be reading here as much for a while.... he runs a great forum here; so before he comes back for real waddya say we all offer him the best gift we ever could for moderating this madhouse by making it a softer, less combative place to hang out for one and all?

While it is obvious that some love the rough and tumble of a board that provides a relatively safe space for in-fighting and the airing of grievances, this isnt really why we signed up.

Not sure how others feel but we would be more than willing to assist in your experiment JaiDee

as I say I used to be more guilty of being a bee-atch than anyone up here but lost that attitude and just play nicely now in the 3 or 4 rooms I read .... unless of course someone I have never met says ' you really just don't understand' to me about a topic I understand fully.

  I saw a similar thread on the 69 forum after I had started this one, I wasn't trying to copy that at all but the better attitude should be universal anyway.

This is a great meeting place, shades better than any other I know, but can I just add that the standard of writing is way better than when I first stopped by to eavesdrop here.

I never wanted to include myself while there was so much naked egotism on display, when it was part of the culture to bully anyone who didn't adopt the prevailing macho standards.

Once the quality of communication went up, those guys just slipped away.

Now it is a vibrant society of fellows who can conduct a good debate with the tempering effect of humour.

Long live the comics amongst us, they are the perfect antidote to some of the more troubling posts.
