For the first time in eons, I visited KC3 the other night. Although I have been in Thailand for quite a long time, it has been only recently that I have started to enjoy LB bars during my sporadic nightime rounds.
I think this web site has something to do with my revived interest (THANKS!), as does a general feeling of boredom with lady bars and excitement about experiencing something new and different.
Also, as we all know Thailand's LBs are something special. A national treasure, of sorts.
So, on a rainy Bangkok eve a few days ago, some of my friends and I set out for Pat Pong. We were in and out of several go-gos (Pussy this, Pussy that, Queens this, Kings that) before finally heading for KC3.
I felt a rush of excitemnet when we walked into KC3 b/c I knew I would be seeing some familar faces. Familar to me, that is, via this great site. The KC3 dancers had no idea who I was, though a few did mention that they had never seen me in there before. They certainly know who is who, as this is their business.
KC3 was fairly empty. A few single male customers scattered around the seats which ringed the stage and a small group of Japanese tourists having their own small party. The music was techo pop, and not very enjoyable.
Upon sitting down, we were immediately mobbed. This is one thing that I don't like about some girlie go-gos, and I avoid the ones with this M.O. I much prefer to be left alone and make my own choices about who I will buy a drink for.
Question for board members. Why to you think LB bars seem to have that especailly pushy element? The nature of chromosomes? Fewer customers?
For what it is worth, Cacades seems to be a bit more low key, at least when I've been there. Agree? Not?
Anyhow, two striking but VERY large, tall LBs decided I was going to be "theirs for the cola" and marked their territory. One was relateively polite. The other was not. So, it took a good 15-20 minutes to shed myself of my two new companions before I could finally relax and take in the sights.
I described this post as the 'good, the bad, and the ugly," and now I speak of the good. What beauty! There must have been about 40-50 LBs dancing or milling about. All shapes and sizes, from the petite, highly passable LBs I like to the more curvaceous, taller LBs. What a feast for the eyes, and the visual variety was much more striking than in the regular go-gos.
There was also an energy in the bar that girlie bars often lack these days. The dancers shrieked, screamed and generally seemed to be enjoying themselves, or at least were making the best of their situation. That was super to see.
Finally, my eyes settled in on one of my Asian TS favorites, Cherry. I am not sure how many of you have seen her in person, but she has a face and smile that are captivating. It isn't a sweet smile, but more of a mysterious, naughty smile. Of course, she caught my stare (I was probably gawking) and came right over. She begain by grabbing my groin so hard I thought my eyes would pop out, and then decided it was time to give me a right cross to the chin, which she perceived as love tap. I felt like I was going a round with Mike Tyson, though I can't say I wasn't enjoying it. The night was getting better.
But then came "the ugly." You know the type. The ultra-agressive LB who has a chip on her shoulder and won't let it go. She moved in quickly when Cherry went to dance, unfortunately before I even had the chance to say much of anything to the lovely Cherry.
All 70 plus kilos of my new friend landed on my lap like a whale on the beach. Buy me drink, buy me drink was her pick up line. Now, I have been down this road hundreds of times in bars, and I typically deal with it easily and efficiently.
But never have I encountered such nasty persistence.
After I said NO politely and not so politely, as well as in English and Thai, she switched strategies and demanded 100 baht to depart my lap. "Give me 100 baht. I leave you."
That's when I started to get a little heated, though my experience here tells me to be jai yen (cool heart/calm) at all times with Thais. This goes double in bars. But this monster was pretty much ruining my KC3 experience, and my time that night was limited, so I cut into her in Thai, basically telling her that she was a nuisance, that I did not like her, and to leave me be NOW. Finally, I guess she grew tired, scowled at me, hurled some verbal abusive, and moved to the next customer sitting near us. She commenced with exactly tha same routine on him.
At this point, my friends, who were dealing with their own set of aggressive new friends, wanted out. So, we left.
I would be curious to hear others thoughts about KC3 and this whole pushiness crap. In the grand scheme of things it isn't a big deal, but it can be a pain.
Overall, KC3 gets top marks for the beauty of the girls, low marks for the behavior of some (not all by any means) of the girls, and low marks for music.
Will I be back? Of course. Too much beauty to say no to.
