This will be a Fish Box thread I'm afraid.

The photos I have in mind are the half finished over-passes that stop in mid-air, the building snafu's where one wall doesn't meet another,
where the plumbing is in the next room to the outlet, etc.

Face stops anyone telling anyone else what to do. One engineer, designer, pilot [!!!!], builder, tradesman, etc can't tell his counterpart he is doing something wrong.

The corrected party will lose face, thus it is better for an enormous stuff-up than to hurt someone's feelings.

I asked a business colleague who has 25 years dealing with it - "how much does the concept of face cost the Thai economy? 10%?"

"Fifty per cent, not a penny less" were the exact words he spat out in disgust.

Groper? has anybody ever been in an lb bar/club without been groped?

Rude? Some lb's/GGs become very rude when you don't buy them a drink-even if you show no interest.
In general Thais are very polite but in my experience Thai's can be pretty rude too...

1. if you are in a que they will just shove passed you
2. they will blatantly laugh out loud at someone if they have any sort of defect(small,fat etc)

there are a few double standards in thai society....especially when it comes to falangs

Interesting issue - Groping... when is it right and when is it wrong!

I've seen a lot of girls in this business being groped when it was clearly wrong!

Sure they are the fruit on display and yes they are just there to have sex with you...

But all too often I see tourists who don't respect simple human dignity by assuming it's alright to reach out and have a grab!

Those of you who are nodding quietly as you read this obviously know what I mean.

If you don't 'get it' then you won't ever so there's no point in ruminating on the whens and hows of appropriate groping!

Some of the girls are full on gropers themselves though....in all the bars.

Not that most guys complain but sometimes it can be annoying when your having a chat

Funny how its always an old bloke that comes up with this theory. I think its a case of trying to convince themselves that the girl does actually want to be with them. I've seen girls laughing at old blokes behind their back and mocking their feebleness but if thats want you want to believe work away. I suppose you believe it when they say they dont have Thai boyfirends also 'Thai man no good'.

BENBEN, I think you interpreted thegame925's post as if he is talking about potential boyfriends - he is definitely not writing from that perspective.

He is writing from the perspective of being a customer for the ladies - and from that perspective he is fairly accurate.

There is a big difference between a paying customer who can supply the cash, and a boyfriend who does not fork over the Baht - so as a customer the ladies will want the person with the cash, young/handsome but no cash doesn't pay the bills.

Now, if you are talking about a boyfriend, who isn't forking over cash (or very little), then your perspective may be right.

But to answer the question, I think the fundamental issue for girls is respect... and the most common way for a guy to disrespect a girl is by not taking care of himself (i.e., being a smelly fat-ass), but showing disrespect by not being an attentive gentleman is also a biggie.

Actually, an option which I find missing is "sweating too much".
Perhaps that is already a nuance in the "smelling not good" option itself.

I have the unfortunate problem of sweating very easily, even if I'm not overweight or don't have (I hope) any particular disease that increases profusely my sweating. I drink a glass of water, and I almost immediately sweat it out, in warm/hot weather. Same as if I eat spicy or consuming alcohol.

You can imagine the misery at times when I'm "working out" in the bedroom and the poor partner has to bear with it. In more than one occasion I've noticed rather annoyed facial expressions
