not sure about the spelling here.....It sounds like "Hoy Kwan" {Snick may know better when he gets back from Pooket} . In any case, this great place is a shopping and restaurant hangout somewhere in Bangkok where many many ladyboys go between 2am and 5am to get filled up on Thai food and socialize. cool place.....restaurants everywhere serving up authentic Thai food, and believe it or not all the local clothing shops are still open selling their wares apparantly for 24 hours straight. I was there one night after we all celebrated Leki's birthday; Myself, Aon, Snick, Icecycle, Leki, Anny, Jannie, Poom, Aob and about 5 other ladyboys at our table [guess who got stuck with THAT bill?]. In any case, it was amazing to walk around an area that had like 10-15 restaurants and all sorts of clothing shops open long after we left there at 430, with lots of ladyboys walking around and checking out the goods.

Great place...if anyone knows the exact name and area of BKK that this is in please help out here; I was kind of hammered that night and very tired by the time we left.

yes, I know it was near the RCA because that is where we all were celebrating Leki's birthday and it wasn't too far from there. all the locals know about this place; mention Hoy Kwan to any taxi driver after 2AM and you will be taken to a great place.

This is a great place to go after 2am with friends, especially LB friends. But I would not suggest this as a place to go 'cruising' after 2am. That said if you're still up and about at 2am this is one of the best places to go.


There are a few small Kareoke bars there that close the door and draw the curtains at 2am, but are still open to 4.

As Khun Chilli said, Huay Kwang is actually a district, which encompasses the Ratchada area and much more.  

You may have been talking about RCA 2 area, which was mentioned above? Across from it are many noodle shops.

Or maybe Ratchada Soi 4, which is the hip spot for young Thais now?  Literally, thousands of teenage Thais mingle there at night.  They have migrated from the largely defunct RCA 1. I don't recall this being an "after 20 a.m. spot, though.

If there were lots and lots of little bars, then Ratchada Soi 4 is the place. Either way, you should still check it out some time.  Wild scene.

Lots of late night noodles in Pratunam, plus lots of clothes. That is another famous late night spot.

The "Hoy Kwan" I am thinking of is a major cross street off of Ratchada, it goes to the west somewhere around the Emerald hotel.
Ratachada Soi 4 is a fun place to hangout before 2am IF you are with Thai friends AND you like your music very loud. It is a collection of about 20 bars.
Again not a place for cruising, you might find some LB there, but they would be out for drinks with their friends..not looking for new boyfriends.

Ratachada Soi 6 is home to a few Discos, including Hollywood. On the weekend there are almost always some LB at Hollywood, though it can be hard to find them since the place is so crowded. Standing outside the main entrence at 2am when everyone leaves is a great way to find 'em.

For some silly reason the 2am closing is now a 1am closing, in some places, for some period of time.

Had a great time at Tiger Disco in Phuket last month which stayed open till 7am (but I was out by 4). This weekend it was closed at 2am.

I love this place, but government by ouija board does get annoying.
