I'm amazed. I lived in Tehran for six months and sexuality was the most clear cut of anywhere I ever visited. Of course I wasn't privy to the side of society where this was likely to be acceptable but they all seemed so damn straight to me.

The youngsters were party people 30 years ago in the time of the Shah but it must be buried deep now.

Interesting and strange programme this
Similar to Buddhism , Islam seems to except Transsexuals yet at the same time repressing homosexuality  as anti Islamic .
So you have the odd situation were the government pays 50% of the operation for Transsexuals , but the police arrest and beat up those who dont want the op but chose to dress as a woman .
It seemed from the programme that gay men were taking the course of living as women and having a sex change just to express their sexuality without fear of state repression .
All those interviewed said they didnt want the op but felt it was the only way they could be accepted , all pretty sad really .

Proof if proof was needed the dangers of religion running a state .
