I was just wondering, If S'pore is such a staid, boring, rotten facist state-how do they allow the LBs to go there and work? I know Thais do not need a visa to get in but the autorities SURELY must know why they are going there and what they are getting up to? Hey dont get me wrong, I am all for free trade and the S'pore folks enjoying their delights but how can hookers come and go as they please? Just asking!

Well, I think you will find that there are about 3m Sporeans and many tens of thousands that think Spore is a really nice place to live and work. Quality of life is VERY high here.

However, for pervs like us or aggressive drunks, it would not be first choice of place to live.

On the fascist thing, I strongly disagree. Yes, it is not a full democracy (but where is), but more of a pragmatic, benign one-party state. But, if you live here, if you are a normal law-abiding citizen, there are NO things you cannot do.....that does not seem unreasonable to me.

On the lb/hooker comment, see my previous use of the word "pragmatic". The Sporean government is not a mad, extreme, set of idealogists. They are smart, pragmatic people who happen to have a different form of government than other places. They know prostitution goes on, and there are well-regulated red light districts in several areas of the city.
