Return to hotel room and while she is in shower secure wallet - credit cards previously locked away.  Leave easy access to fee for service in a drawer.

Drink soda water or coke if you are going to bar fine, ie stay sober.

Bar fine girl you approach not visa versa.

Short time not long time.

Never bar fine same girl twice.

I feel a lot safer walking the streets of Bangkok or Pattaya than I do at home , anyone fancy walking home on a Saturday night in any UK city nowdays ?

Stogie is correct , 99% of the time these stories are from guys who dont have a clue how to conduct themselves .

I remember talking to a clown in Pattaya one time who claimed that a girl had tried to set him up with the police with yaa baa , when he told the whole story HE had aproached HER first to try and buy cocaine .

yeah, the rest of his list is pretty right on , but i'd have to say that one is clearly counter-intuitive.
if you barfine a girl once and get along i'd have to say a return visit would generally be safer than trying out someone you'd never been with before -- of course this is only with regard to safety in the moment , not with regard to falling in love and losing everything you own!
but that's a whole different thread there.

I always carry about 5.000 baht, no credit cards or other valueables. The money is more than you'll need for the night, even if it get's a little bit out of hand. But not enough to waste more than a shrug if you are fooled.

Before I leave my room I make sure that all valuables are locked in the safe or in my suitcase.

So there is nothing to worry about and I can enjoy my time. Nothing bad happened until today, not with LBs from bars, not with freelancers from the street.

From my experience Thailand seems to be safer than most other places in the world.

If something happens always think twice if you want to inform police. It's okay if you have no problem when your full name and your home country in combination with a nice picture of you are reported next day in Pattaya City News and get distributed all over the web...

Transsexual steals 50,000 Baht from Englishman sheltering from the rain.

Early on Friday Morning, Mr. Roy Corlett aged 34 from England made a complaint at Pattaya Police Station which detailed a suspected theft which had taken place in the car park of a Condominium Complex in Soi 13, South Pattaya. Police Lieutenant Colonel Santi took up the case and heard how the victim ran to the Car park of a nearby Condotel to shelter from the rain just before 6am.

"He noticed two transsexuals who were also sheltering from the rain. They approached him and suggested the three go back to his room for some early morning fun. it was a misprint.

It has happened to a member of this forum. Me in fact. I will elaborate on the story later as heading out for dinner. But she got 20K baht and about $200 AUD from my apartment.

One my first visit in 2002 I got convinced to go to a club by a Thai guy which belonged to his cousin. This was in Paptong area. He wouldn€™t take no for an answer. Anyway I went and it was a bar hostess club. I was asked to pick a lady and then told to take 2.

Any to cut it short I was busy drinks for him and 2 girls and was told it was cheap. Well I was getting bored there and said I was going. The bill came and although it was only 1500bt or so I was just written on a bit of paper.

Stupid I asked to pay with credit card so I would fall short of cash. They refused. (Thanks). So I paid and went. And more stupidly I told the guy I need cash and allowed him to direct me to the bank. He didn€™t try anything. Then he suggested another club owned by his brother. I lost him after that.

I felt so stupid after for allowing my self to be taken like that and my bad decision making.

But they were stupid too. Had they had credit card facilities they could have fleeced me more. And had they put a bill of 3k I still would have paid.

So don€™t go with a tout to a club or bar. There are millions to choose from on your own.

Same thing happen next time I was in paptong. This time I knew what the guy was on about.  So I let him walk ahead and I turned at the next soi. Even though it was the gay soi.  Was even asked by one Thai guy if I was off to the telephone club.
