Rick, I think Tourot has something here.  If many people tell you lies every day, it would definitely have an impact on whether you tell the truth or not.

One LB admitted that she had lied to me (about nothing important) and explained that she would always lie if she thought the truth would displease me ... i.e. she tells me what I want to hear

I did appreciate her being so candid with me

To be honest, I find the "up to you" response much more fucking annoying than the lies

My girl calls "me" everyday and not the other way round, but on the odd occasion's I will not get a call one day.

The next day I will get a call and get a right  "good bollocking" and asked " why you not call me?" and told " you not care me" etc etc

Yes, this is what "I" DO want to "Hear" and get an "Ear Bashing" instead of a "its ok no problem you not call"

Whether it is "Lies" or "Not" it actually makes me feel better

Like other BMs have said lying isn't exclusive to Thai ladyboys. In Singapore, for example, the Filipino GGs have a sort of monopoly on the pub scene. They make their money through lady drinks which cost about 5 times the price of a lady drink in Bangkok. (About S$20, the girls keep half). They have a standard repertoire of lies - they only got one drink last night, they're sick today and can't drink and therefore can't make money, they lost their money, they not used to drinking (sometimes quite true), family member is sick etc. It's got to a point where regular pub crawlers know it by heart.
Why do they do it? Survival mode kicking in (like qwerty said), lie or be damned in the pit of poverty? Who knows for sure?
To me the "white" lies of "me no like Thai man" are harmless in themselves but if you make somebody part with really big bucks on a basis of saying somebody is dying and needs an operation really stretches it way out and becomes downright thievery .
