I have carefully left out a few stories on those people from this thread as they would be viewed as racist.

Suffice to say the locals I've met who had experience with them abhorred them.

I won't be dragged into expanding on the subject on any public forum, it is just a shame they don't have the same respect for foreigners as their hosts showed to them.

The only stalking I approve of takes place in the loom with two pairs of undies on the floor, with one or more staalks being given a solid workout.

When are you back in LOS? I have just bought my ticket today & I need a date for my grand entrance at La Bamba next month . . .

            . . . . or do you require a more formal invitation?

Oh don't get me wrong, every other Arab i've met has been lovely, from guys
in the bar to the a couple of passport control guys in Doha who totally impressed
with me (i had my old male passport on my way home to change everything),kept
me chatting and laughing so long i nearly missed the flight..
So just one guy,who just happened to be Arabic,he could have been Swiss or
              anything.....

Oh Naangy-poo, I love it when you play hard to get . . . .

No mention of my heartfelt proposal to accompany me on a state visit to Pattaya.

Just wittering on about flights & Doha & Swiss guys who aren't Arabic but might be just as bad . . .

Pay attention darling or I will start to think you aren't interested.

After all, I am people, simple maybe, but no need to be personal . . .

now that's an idea, but maybe a special meeting for those postop lovers and your "coven"

Pacman thanks for your great stories of what Pattaya was like in the old days. We have a few photos from donnnny and a few others - your stories bring a new light on things.

My first visit to Pattaya was in 1994, so it wasn't quite the scene as you described. However for a newbie it was quite amazing!

Have fun on your next trip to LOS and I know you will enjoy visiting La Bamba!

Sorry boys Sukhumvit was paved in 1970 no side walks or gutters in spots. Stayed in the Miami Hotel twice on R/R the hotel is still there about Suk. Soi 13 or so some were in that area. Don't remember to much started drinking on arrival stopped on the way out. The first girl I bar fined had one hell of a bush for a Thai.

There was a Mexican Rest. on Suk. that employed a couple of midgets dressed in sombreos who would stop traffice so your taxi could pull out.

Morning traffic coming into town would take 3 lanes and leave one for out bound traffic and they would reverse the order at night. My present girl friend was 7 years old at the time of my first trip. Down on the farm in Issan.

Darling there must be a Royal Visit, you just need to try harder.
A meeting of forum members needs the appropriate venue, & where else in Pattaya but La Bamba?
I will instruct Sam to make the necessary arrangements.

Prince Paac Maan & Princess Naang Faa.

After our grand arrival we can bring real happiness to the lives of those less fortunate,
doling out gratuitous advice & little bon mots as we swan our way around the gilded avenues of Pattaya.

Can't you just picture their smiling faces, filled with delight at our presence?

                          Can't wait, I bet?
BTW, what side of the bed do you prefer?

Sorry to interrupt the romantic Royal Couple, but should I reserve the Presidential Suite @ La Bamba for the event? or would the Honeymoon Suite suffice.

FYI the Honeymoon Suite has the Mirrors in the ceiling, but the Presidential has the his n' hers dressing rooms.

Oh yes, and the Presidential comes with the LB massuse.

                              Cancel the rooms Sam . . . .

Two days & not a word back from the Princess. What more could I have done?

Still she isn't the only post-op in LOS but it just seems so unfair, just as I was falling . . . falling . . .
falling off this bloody chair !!

I can't type one handed & scratch my nuts at the same time.

And who said romance was dead?

After I recover from my grief I will add a few more memories to this thread.

                              Stay tuned.

I guess it's time to wrap this thing up.
I have many snippets of memory of that time, but I covered the best stories in some detail.

I am inspired to string them together after reading the wonderful Trip Report by TheGame925.
What a thoroughly decent bloke he comes over as, & still chasing some action like a teenager at 75 !
Anyone here who wishes they won't be doing the same?
I salute you sir for your clarity of writing, your lack of ego & the inspiration you provide to those of us who wonder when is the polite time to give it all away.
                                Answer : NEVER !!

I wrote that I spent 2 months in LOS, but nobody picked me up on the fact that in the 70's you only had 30 days in the country once you entered. A visa wasn't required so how did I do twice that time?

Easy ! Two visits. One heading to the UK & the other returning. Except I never made it to Europe. The Khyber Pass between Kashmir & Pakistan was completely unpassable by the time I arrived there & after waiting 10 hours at the New Delhi Post Office to get my first call home in 6 months I was told my sister was getting married & she really wanted me to be there.

I had 3 months to get back, so I retraced my steps, back to Nepal, great memories there, & Thailand, for a full 30 days before home. I could hardly wait !

When travelling today, it would be most inconvenient to be more than a short walk to an internet cafe, where a daily report can be passed onto family, everyone in your address book if you want. Plus send photos.
Sitting in the GPO in New Delhi, & asking every hour "how long?" & being told "soon" by someone who had no idea, you can't believe how primitive their phone system was. I had to fill out a form, as you had to do with everything there, all in triplicate, pay something like the equivalent of $20 per minute, shout down the phone to be heard, strained to hear what was being said back, the whole 10 minute call was just about the single most expensive thing I did in that country.

Now before you sit back all smug thinking how much better it all is now, let me ask you this :
When was the last time you received an email that had you in tears, where the sheer emotion of hearing the concern of those who actually care about you, left you mentally flattened?
It took days just to stop thinking about it all, going over every word in my head. I feel strange after all these years just writing about it.

Skip forward to take-off from Kathmandu to Bangkok. The row of seats I was in had all these identically dressed Nepalese for whom it was their first flight. They sat there looking like they were waiting to be executed.
I was given a left hand side window seat which to this day I am grateful for. The sky was a magnificent bright blue, punctuated by huge snow white clouds that rose up for miles. The pilot weaved around them & looking out at the Himalyas & seeing them so clearly made it the most enjoyable flight I am likely ever to have.

Sitting in front of me was another foreigner who I was yet to know I would be sharing a room at the Malaysia Hotel for most of my time there. Breakfast was passed out to every seat & to my surprise it was bloody good. I never developed a taste for Nepalese food. It is said to be similar to Indian food, where I developed a taste for the wonderful curries they offered, all so cheap & so delicious.

In a local Nepal restaurant it was all ladled out of one pot, a smelly grey gruel. I wanted to like it, I lived off local food everywhere, but the whole thing sitting in a Kathmandu eating place,
you couldn't call them restaurants, where you had to bend down to get in the door, where the old men sucked on their hookahs, filling the place with smoke & the general smell, I decided to pass.

Despite the fact you could have 3 meals a day in those joints & not spend 10 cents. That is not per meal, that is for 3 meals.
One day I had a steak cooked at the Kathmandu Steak House, [how do i remember that? it just came to me !]. It cost $25 & I remember we [we? can't recall who I dined with] were the only customers.

Where was I? Back to breakfast on Royal Nepal Airlines. The fellows next to me took one look & closed them up, & soon they were handing them over to me. The bloke in front asked if he could get another breakfast, & I said mate they are going begging here. I ate 4 & he ate 5.

He introduced himself as John & we talked all the way to Bangkok. I have met some rough individuals in my time but this guy took the prize. Everyone has the right to be ugly but John abused the priviledge.

At 8am we had our first cold can of beer. It had been a while. In India where we were offered dope & hashish at every turn you could only buy alcohol on Wednesdays.
Now there's a smart application of the law.

By arrival I had drunk 4 or 5 cans, John was maggoted.
For those unfamiliar with the phrase he was a mess.
I think he was down to his last 100 quid & after telling me he could never go back to the UK I knew I had met yet another guy on the run.

"Come with me" I offered, "you can stay at the Malaysia until you sort something out." He slept all afternoon & then it was time to introduce him to Patpong.

John up to Nepal had spent 3 months in the Middle East, hadn't had a drink or spoken to a girl, then suddenly he finds himself in paradise. How doyou think he reacted? Correct !
He would drink a beer in 10 minutes & when he realised every girl was available I think his head exploded.

I quickly tired of wanting to drink with him, so I would leave him at the bar, while I wandered off to check out what was happening. I don't have such a fascination for alcohol that I want to be drunk every night. Less so now.

That first night I don't know how he got home, I remember he came in hours after me with a girl. The two beds in a Malaysia Hotel room were wide enough for two to sleep on each. Not when John is one of the two.

I woke up to find her spread out on the floor sleeping on John's sleeping bag, a sheet over her. Smiling at me & perhaps thinking I might be a better prospect,
she sat up & to deflect attention from her less than pretty face she sensuously lowered the sheet to reveal her best assets, a great set of tits - big & hard.

Oh dear. I was naked under my sheet & I wondered if it was worth upsetting my new friend so early in our relationship. She then stood up naked & in a very non-Thai way she offered herself. She made the mistake of speaking which promptly woke John up.
He took one look at the prize at the end of the bed . . . well I said I was going for breakfast & after quickly dressing I think the second thing that banged was the door closing behind me.

I grew to like John, flaws & all. He always had an opinion about everything & told some great stories.
I just hope he made it out of Thailand in one piece & is doing OK today. Somehow, though, I doubt it.

I have rambled on for too long & still haven't finished.
Later my friends, must have lunch.
