  • Enforcement of the 90 days reporting requirement

This notice was sent out by one of the foreign chambers of commerce today:

"ENFORCEMENT OF THE 90 DAYS REPORTING REQUIREMENT

The Immigration Bureau and the Royal Thai Police are now enforcing the
requirement of expatriates to report their place of residence in writing to an
immigration Office every 90 days in accordance with Section 37 (5) of the
    Immigration Act 2522.

In the event that the report is not made or is delayed by more than seven days
a penalty of up to THB 5,000 will apply.

Members are advised to comply with this requirement and to complete the
standard form in order to avoid being fined and potential delays in the
    processing of their visas."

Just goes to show you the idioticy of the Brit Immigration people. Quite happy to let in murders and people trafficers but the gentle thai ? No way.

We only have ourselves to blame because these idiots in the embassey need to be told and we just sit back and let 'em roll over us as usual. These and successive governments just rail road us all the time.

I am a bit confused. This is refering to the THAI immigation bureau asking all non-Thais in the Kingdom to report in each 90 days? Nothing to do with Brits, right?

This policy has been on the books for decades and has never been enforced. May have to check thaivisa.com to get the skinny on this one. It would be a real hassle if true.

Put your "guns" away your not shooting straight. The enforcement might just possibly due to the fact that several Thai ministers have been turned downed for visa's to the UK - that's due to the brits right ? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We do own/live in the UK !

Now you can play with your own pistol again in your nice sandpit.

Doesn't answer the WHY behind it, but a poster on thaivisa.com had this to say about procedures.

Simplified procedure for 90 day registration by mail.
You may now renew your 90 days registration mail.
              Procedure:

1 Photocopy of the page containing your MOST RECENT ENTRY VISA.
The original of your most recent 90 day registration receipt.
The original of your new 90 days registration receipt.
              Don't forget to sign it!
A stamped, self-addressed envelope to receive your new receipt.
Please allow at least 1 week for delivery of registered mail.
Your new form will be stamped as of the expiration date of your old form.
              Important:
If you have passed the 90 days limit, you must come to room 401 immigration
              bureau in parson.
To receive a blank registration form, send a stamped, self-addressed
envelope to the address above. Request form TM.47.
              Immigration Officer (room 401)
              Tel: 02-2862774, 02-2873101-10 Ext. 2240.2242

Note: This handout does not mention a photocopy of TM6 as a requirement but does mention it in the "unable to process your report section" so believe it is also required.
