A worrying trend ?

It might just be my paranoia but things seem to be changing fast in the Ladyboy scene. What do I mean ? Well for one,and to state the obvious, the prices charged from as little as 3 years back are rising exponentially !! More than B3000 now for an all nighter in bkk ? and if you want a "star" from KC3 I hear it might be even more, if you can convince her to stay all night ?(If that is your thing) My worry is that if this trend keeps running upwards then we might well end up with a TS scene similar to the US and Europe. Do you think that could be possible in another 5 years time ? I think it is very possible. I do not know if any of you guys know the scene in the UK but I can describe it in one word - TRAGIC. 120 sterling for less than 1 stinking hour, no kissing,straight down to business hopefully on a clean mattress with TV blaring and mobile phone constantly ringing in next room !! Not all cases I'm sure but pretty close. If prices rise still further(admitedly B3000 is not much for 1 night vs UK but 10 nights makes a dent even now) then the only affordable entertainment left will be the tom yam !!

I've also noticed from both personal experience and talking with other punters that generally the girls are more "hungry" now. More professional and "hard nosed" and driven to make as much as possible in the quickest time with ever decreasing regard for the paying customer!! ( Quite unlike Asian tradition). Seeing examples of Ladyboys such as Som and Anny to name but a few seems to fuel this pernicious trend.

Do not get me wrong, so far the ladyboys I have met have been great but I cannot just feel from talking to them and seeing the success of girls I knew in KC3 that we maybe seeing an end to our utopia in thailand sooner than we are really ready to deal with or accept ? I really hope I'm wrong here. The thought of these wonderful ladies turning into cynical hard nosed bitches is a frightening thought ! As they say money corrupts absolutely.

Already Laos, Indo,Vietnam and Malaysia seem to be giving birth to a ts scene of sorts. Nothing like LOS but could these places be the next port of call in the future ? I've heard some of the lady bar owners in Pattaya are moving to Cambodia already !!!

I've seen the situation in Thailand change quite dramatically over the last 10 years. I was reminded of this on my last trip when having chosen 1 girl, I decided that afterall I liked her friend better. I explained this to her and offered her a very generous sum in compensation but never the less she went crazy and threatened to beat up the girl I wanted !!! First time I have ever had to call over the mamasan to deal with her !! Previously I have done this on numerous occasions in many bars especially when i have had a few drinks as you do and I never had a problem before because the girls know I butterfly(I make that clear from the start) and hey they may strike lucky next time! I just don't think these places are as relaxed as they used to be. I'm sure this massive influx of younger ,good looking ladyboys have brought with them a wave of change - I dare say there are a few sharks now lurking in this new Ladyboy tidal wave.

Interesting insight Bricktop. Certainly worth pondering. Malaysia is not a place which openly encourages prostitution in any form and certainly not with LB so it will never really expand to where LOS is now. Many of the Malay LB head over the causeway to Singapore and set up in Orchard Towers. But again it will never be LOS. Now Cambodia that may well be worth checking out certainly the GGs are beautiful and if the LB are anything like them.... interesting thought:rock:

Are you referring to Pre-op Som? If so, in my experience I wouldn't say she is a good example of "professional and 'hard nosed' and driven to make as much as possible in the quickest time". I think she is as honest, caring and sweet as any LB I've been with and would rank high on the list of girlfriend material LBs, IF I were a full time resident of Thailand, which, btw, should by an absolute prerequisite for anyone wanting a steady Thai LB g/f.

I personally think the prices will remain steady now. There is a lot more interest in the ladyboy scene, but a whole lot more ladyboys too...

A lot of this 'desperation' you may be noticing is due to a general slump in trade and a lack of consistancy of income. Also with the internet a lot fewer people are being taken for fools.

Hey, if I own a busy restaurant and people stop coming I'm gonna get a bit mental!

I am interested in the ladyboy scene outside of Thailand. No one will beat the Thai girls, but it's an emerging market out here all the same.

Hi Brick Top, I really enjoyed your post you have made some very valid points and I can certainly equate with the scene in the UK! only 1 word for it - horrifying!

I have not been going to LOS for as long as you and can clearly remember my first night 18 months ago (I have been back 6 times since on business). I was on my own went to Angelwitch, bar fines a very cute girls and probably paid over the odds. The 2nd and 3rd nights I did better, then on my last trips in March this year (3 visits in 2 weeks - heaven! )I felt much more relaxed about the whole thing and spent more time talking to the girls both in their bar and maybe stopping at another bar on the way back to the hotel for another couple of drinks.

It was during one of these bar hops with a GG from Sexy Nights in NEP that the girl I had bar fined told me that the expected rate for LT was 1000 baht. I have to say that this girl was very good and I tipped her 1500 in the morning. I dare say that the rates will settle down again once things begin to get back to normal, whatever normal is in BKK! !

It is amazing, we are likely to see prices lower than they were in 2003, it will all depend on which side of the deflation/inflation line that LOS falls in.

One advantage developing countries have over so-called first world nations is that the huge fiscal stimulus packages demanded by the citizens of the US & Europe, etc, is neither possible nor as necessary in the lesser economies. (Possible only if they start printing money a la Zimbabwe)

As Thailand is self-sufficient in food, there is a good chance there won't be the civil unrest here that will destroy other countries as they implode.

I suspect LOS will be subject to a big dose of deflation, just as well for us if the baht stays stubbornly strong. God help the Thais if runaway inflation takes hold.

But not for a moment am I suggesting that the place will get off free, there are dark clouds closing in on the world's banking system with free enterprise & the capitalist system itself coming under threat like never before.
