this is kind of related to the 'ladyboy lament' post that I made before....it's hard to feel bad for a girl who can get some guy to take her out shopping and yet she still has reasons to bitch. 99% of girls and guys their age in Thailand never get this type of chance.
Anyway, about 10 days ago I told a nice ladyboy that I know that I would take her for
a birthday gift; she is not my GF but we have been very close about
2 dozen times and I figured a 3000-5000B gift was in order; I
specifically told her "shoes, boots, skirt, top or blouse", or any
combination as long as she didn't break the bank. we agreed to meet
near the food court at MBK; right away she drags me up to the 3rd floor
jewelry department! doesn't this girl know me by now? she starts
looking around in one store, and i tell her I will be back in 20
minutes and go down to get a burger.

I come back up and she is
wearing this ring on her finger which costs 24,000 baht! Great;
enjoy it, but don't expect me to pay for it. so by now she is
having the clerk wrap it up [another one of those clerks who makes
6000 or 7000 a month], and waiting for me to reach for my wallet,
which never happens. she reluctantly reached into her handbag and
pulls it out and hands over 24000 baht for this stupid ring which
looked to me to be a total fake! but at this point she MUST buy the ring, lest lose face with the sales clerks there who figured this schmuck westerner with the ketchup stains on his shirt would pick up the tab. Obviously they don't know me either because my wallet stayed right where it was.
so now she is seething mad, and probably pissed that I
didn't pay the 600 US dollars for an idiotic ring that looks like
cubic zirconia to me. but I keep my promise, and we head to Tokyu,
where she selects a nice pant/top outfit which costs 2500 baht.
THAT I gladly paid for....at least she can wear it and get some real
use out of it, and it was within [actually below]my parameters of what I would pay for her Bday gift. But I know she was, and still is, pissed that I
didn't dig deep for the ring; she was probably testing my 'sucker'
rating and thankfully I passed [falied for her]. I thought after a
year of seeing her off and on she would know better. we chatted this week on the fone and it came up again; fuck that and I make no apologies.
Stogie and me went with Aon to the Central department store in december; we met her there because she wanted some shit for our trip to samui. he and I talked business while she looked around and she had definate limits from me; she got a reasonably-priced bikini [wouldn't it have been better to get one at, you know, an Island?
]. so now she heads for the shoe department and me and him are bored so we go to Burger King [always a good move] and i hand her 2000 baht [PLENTY for a pair of shoes] for a new pair and say 'have fun'. damn if the ones she liked best didn't cost 2,600, and she had to put in 600B of her own cash! man, I never heard the end of that and if you listen to the video of her near the pool at the resort in Chewang she is STILL bitching about it. my quote about 'enough is never enough' for these girls applies here.
taking girls shopping is probably a bad idea. in both cases above my intentions were good, but my limits were not high; I figure 100US dollars [3800 baht] is a pretty good gift for both parties, and if they can't find something in that range than fuck 'em and let them go shopping on their own. and oh, ya; make sure you get a screw or 2 out of that shopping trip and it will all work out even in the end if you think about it.
