This is an interesting video guide for Thai tgs and military conscription (draft). It is unfortunate some of the things mentioned in this video happened commonly in the past, but it sounds like changes have improved the situation.

Some more videos about this. In 2011 a Thai TG sued the military that the tg is not a mental illness which affected their future job prospects.

Lyla got a call from her local police saying they did not have a record of her going to for her military conscription.
They said that she need to provide the paper saying she is exempt from military duty for their records.
She was a couple years past the limit and there was no record of her being exempted.
Apparently they are tasked with rounding up those that have not appeared for evaluation.

She was out of the country on her conscription date so she hadn't been checked yet.
They told her she would be exempted no problem but just had to get the paper, which was free.
So she went to an army office nearby and the soldier on duty said sure he would help her get the paper.
Only she had to give him 15,000 before he would assist her with it.
She told him to fuck off and took his tag number.
After that she called to find out how she could get it and complain about the extortion.
Finally she was able to pick up the form and get it to the police.

They try and get you every way they can in Thailand, so many are on the take.
Is it the culture? Or just an excuse?

Sorry to hear of this extortion that Layla faced Crag. Unfortunately this is all too common, not just in Thailand but many Asian countries. Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, etc all have corruption.

Here's a another video of the draft day that happened last month. The situation has improved now they are not classified as having a mental illness, with their deferment document.

It's still a pretty awkward thing. If they allowed them to change their sex officially many could be ruled out without this visit.
Not like here in the west where so many TGs are fighting to get into the military.
I haven't met a Thai ladyboy yet that wanted to go in the Army,
although a few commented it wouldn't be bad to be stuck among all those army men.
Of course in Canada they give them their surgery and everything i think, so it isn't bad.
