She is a "star" at Calypso, and the Alcazar performer while not a star is definitely in the higher tier at Alcazar.

The tip situation can vary from one cabaret show to another, but generally they send the best looking girls out for phototips after the show. The money they get is collected and put into a pot, which is distributed by the management to all the performers. I have heard that after the last show the girls get to keep tips instead of putting it into the pot. I will try to verify this later. Also of course the girls who work in the travelling shows are on another scale as you mentioned about the ones in Japan.

When this is compared to what the bar girls make, it is easy to see the attraction for them to work the bars.
