  • You are right... It is rare to see it but I'm saying it isn't difficult.

It's rare because farangs don't want to move to Thailand fulltime.
It's rare because once here why would you settle for just one ladyboy when the shop is full of bargains!
It's rare because the kind of burned out people that come to Thailand are simply not good at making ANY kind of relationship work!
It's rare because farangs don't have the patience to deal with the move. From language to culture... it's all a bit of a shock.
It's rare because, despite the best advice, they still look for love in brothels! How dumb is that!
It's rare because, instead of looking for it, for some reason we expect love to arrive on our doorstep simply because "This is Thailand!"

It's easy because I've done it and it was just like dating a normal girl... Sure - we split up after a while and went our seperate ways. Just like I would have done if she had been a regular girl in the UK! I fell out of love and we seperated. It happens!

I'm one of those soory fucks who is just incapable of sharing too much of my life with anyone. I don't need a 'companion' or someone to 'snuggle up' with!

If anyone wants a serious long term relationship with a beautiful student ladyboy in Thailand then it's easy.

You just have to want it more than anything else!

    • Thank you, SB

I like this explanation much better than the other one, which made about 99% of us here look like twats who can't land a date or a girlfriend!! Your 6 reasons as to why it's rare add to an-already-interesting thread.

      • A side question is how many Thai male-Thai ladyboy relationships last a while?

That is an excellent question, my friend... it happens a lot and in every walk of life and on every rung of the Thai social ladder!

To see a great example of a long term loving relationship between a professional Thai man and a ladyboy - check out the HBO docco "The Middle Sexes."

These relationships are obviously more along the lines of whatever could be considered normal for a ladyboy.

(Again - nothing I ever write applies to prostitutes unless I specifically say so. I don't know much, if anything, about what goes on in the secret lives of ladyboys who are on the game.)

                    • AND the benefit of living in BKK 12 months per year

it's hard to date a student or other "nice girl" when you only make it to Thailand a few weeks a year or even a few months per year like myself. As Stogie agreed with earlier, this topic is moot and impossible to do unless you can live there full time.

for once we agree on something!

This may well be why its doubtful i would ever succeed as i cant see myself wanting a rship with a LB more than anything else

                          • I'm really wondering about some of you guys.

Since when did real love exist anywhere? Forget about Thailand and Ladyboys. From what I can recall, myself included, a large bunch of us are divorced. At 40, most of us gave up this dreamland of love for love's sake. With western divorce at 50% or more, I think those days are long gone.

Some people keep saying, why don't you try not giving her money and see if she loves you. Like fuck. Like what girl, not working, or on the bleeding edge of poverty, will still want to stay with you if you if you have a little money and keep her poor despite living with her? Like what kind of love are you showing her.

Secondly, drop kick this crap about working girls. May was a working girl for 2 months because she didn't have a penny left and she didn't want to burden her sister anymore. She has no inclination nor characteristics of a working girl. Likewise, many girls that are "working" are not "working girls" in their hearts. They just want to survive. The "working girl" attitude is one that exists in "working girls" and girls that don't work. Just try Q-Bar some night for the leeches, who aren't "working" technically.

Finally, you don't get other example of successful guys with LBs here, because they're not on the forum! Most of the guys on this forum have wives and girlfriends and just jerk-off to pictures, and read the forum for amusement. The vast, vast majority are not in Thailand, not single, and so no examples except poor old Stogie and me.

For me, I'm with a technically previously working girl for 9 months now, and if I remember right, Stogie spends most of his time with Kif, a previoulsy working girl. Both girls are sweet, don't demand money. I give money to May because she is my girlfriend, just as I gave my wife.

                            • I have to join in this discussion because there is a tendency in this thread to gravitate towards stereotypes make generalizations about "types" of behaviour and people. After more than 30 years of coming to Thailand, living in Thailand some of the time(for years), having a passable ability with spoken Thai, being married to a Thai for more than 17 years and enjoying ladyboys too, I have a few comments to add. Culture matters and Thais are indeed unique in many ways. The Thai Rak Thai feeling is at its peak today, largely because it is hyped by the party of the same name, although this doesn't discount the pride that had existed in the past. Carabao(songs for life Rock Group)was a factor with gigantic hit songs like "Made in Thailand" etc. But Farangs used to be held in higher regard than today. Light skin is a sign of beauty in Thai culture and everyone still ogles the mixed parentage child as beautiful. Farangs gained stature in the Vietnam war era also, by working to save Thailand's freedom from perceived Vietnamese colonialism. But more than anything else, despite cultural differences individual Farangs and Thais have formed solid relationships that transcend Thai and Farang racism. Another factor not discussed so far is the concept of non-attachment in Buddhism, living in the now, and not putting emphasis in longterm game plans, which many Farangs misinterpret has cold heartedness. The comments about age are true--young girls, ladyboys are not going to give an older Farang much satisfaction, but the older twenties and up are thinking differently. Most Asian societies from the middle east through India to eastern Asia look at marriage as a social and economic contract with dowries and pledge money. Romantic love is a largely western notion and a distructive one at that, for it fosters an ideal which is unrealistic. Real love takes time. Lust on the other hand is instant and often confused with love. Guys that come to Thailand and spend a week or two and then start sending checks are mixed up individuals, however, even of few of them succeed because of luck if nothing else. The scene is a complex mixing of individuals and cultures. If you want a contrast then just look to the Philippines which has taken romantic love to morbid extremes, which has idealized western notions of heart break and crying in their beer, which has perfected the long term distance love affair with volumes of text messages and emails, whole epics of foolishness being the norm. Ladyboys are part of this in the Philippines too, hoping for the unaffordable breast implant, the life time servitude to the farang lover etc. In the Philippines they just wait for you to die and get the stuff you had leftover.
