Good and funny discussion. I'm always interested in how philosophy and sociology is affected by unpredicted changes in technology.
You realize that in the future SRS surgery will become better, cheaper, faster, more realistic. And this is just accounting for basic improvements. It is not unrealistic to expect that DNA, cloning, stem cell research, nano-technology, molecular assembly, neural repair etc. will lead to completely new methods of SRS.
It is conceivable that instead of simply hacking you into an illusion of femininity, Dr.s will be able to almost literaly change your sex.
When that is the case, what will that mean? What if you could become female for the holiday and then change back when it's time to go home? What if people could become LB for their earning years and then go back to being male for a career.
The implications are mind-boggling. A young boy could literally become his own venture capitalist during his teens and 20's, then become Male again and start his own successful and respectable business.
This is just one example. Consider the implications of technology on transgender issues.
When completely realistic sex robots become affordable for everyone, how will this effect population, gender relations, politics, sex tourism?
