Good and funny discussion. I'm always interested in how philosophy and sociology is affected by unpredicted changes in technology.

You realize that in the future SRS surgery will become better, cheaper, faster, more realistic. And this is just accounting for basic improvements. It is not unrealistic to expect that DNA, cloning, stem cell research, nano-technology, molecular assembly, neural repair etc. will lead to completely new methods of SRS.

It is conceivable that instead of simply hacking you into an illusion of femininity, Dr.s will be able to almost literaly change your sex.

When that is the case, what will that mean? What if you could become female for the holiday and then change back when it's time to go home?  What if people could become LB for their earning years and then go back to being male for a career.

The implications are mind-boggling. A young boy could literally become his own venture capitalist during his teens and 20's, then become Male again and start his own successful and respectable business.

This is just one example.  Consider the implications of technology on transgender issues.

When completely realistic sex robots become affordable for everyone, how will this effect population, gender relations, politics, sex tourism?

Western women won't be getting shagged at all by then & I would order a 3rd gender sex robot.

        Why do they hate us?
lack of education, moral beliefs, jealousy/envy, fear, lack of self esteem, and on and on.
I usually don't give a shit how people feel about my situation, because usually it's not my problem. Being a white Southerner who was married, to a black "Yankee" with 2 bi-racial kids. I have felt the slings and arrows pointed in my direction on many occasions. Not to be negative against my ats brothers, but I can't help wondering if any of you out there would accuse ol Randyman of being a niggerlover. (I don't say "N" word)
There is power and money beyond belief when it comes to hate. Whether you're Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, religious extremists, the Klan, you pull in the big bucks and the support when you have a "scary" group to hate.
I have yet to walk with a known LB in Western society. I imagine the reaction would be a lot more in your face than it is in LOS. And as I've had a few knowing glances, whispers, etc pointed at me, I doubt if many of us have heard a taunt from any lone person unless he had the comfort and security of some "back-up."
Why do they hate us?? There's a hundred reasons, and they probably all have merit.

          Hi troops,
I'll not dwell on it too long, I'm sure most, if not all, members caught the show and discussed it at the time. A programme earlier in the year on british t v about gender benders??.
It's outcome, at least the way I read it, was just what a hypocritical, self denying, jelous lot these people are. If anyone is interested I'll bring it back next time I go home.

The answer to Ziggys question about "hate" would have filled millions of pages in books on Psycology and Sociology and cant really be answerd in depth here although i did give my off the top of my head reply earlier....

Lets face it who here can say that they dont have their pet hates.....everyone dislikes somebody or someone and i doubt if anyone on this forum is innocent on this score ...

            Anyway...........
I was talking to a friend of mine once in Pattaya ,and he is a straight guy to be sure.....and he said to me " i wish all men were gay". When i asked why he said ...

"if more men were gay then there would be a lot more Girls to go around for guys like me! , a lot  less competition!"

This is a brilliant reposte to Homophobic types who shout there mouths off about being Heterosexual. It soon shuts them up when they start thinking about it.

What are you saying, Mirimark, RM doesn't like fem-boys? Different strokes for different folks... or am I missing something?
I know that Zig started this thread discussing prejudice against men who like ladyboys and T/S and it was inevitable when discussing 'hate' that we would cross over to racial discrimination. I was born and raised, and still live in the southern US. I saw the blacks going to the back of the bus as a white child in the 60s. I lived through the desegregation process and the 'white flight' to the suberbs. All I can say is, things have gotten a lot better. There are still a few hold outs, old dinasaurs and a few skin heads, but overall, in simple terms, it's one hell of an improvement. I've enjoyed seeing this happen and look forward to it getting even better in the future. It is embarrassing for a society that the Supreme Court and the government had to intervene to get these changes done, but the end results are well worth it. I dated a black woman in the mid 90s for 3 years and never had any problems .... even out in the small country towns. I knew that if I had been doing the same thing 30 or 40 years before that my house might have been burned down with me in it. I don't blame anyone who has suffered from racial prejudice for being resentful, I damn sure would be, but to speak of the south as if it's still the same .... it's just not true... it's not perfect and never will be ..... like everything else here on the planet earth.
And one other note, there are still plenty of decent western women. They don't get the attention like the snobby bitches, but they're here. The only problem is if you're still single or coming out of a divorce in your thirties or forties, most of the good ones have been taken. In most cases if there is a shortage of 'good women' there is also a shortage of 'good men'.
Anyway, I enjoy this forum and hope that Zig comes back.

I use to be a gay-basher. At the time it was considered boys being boys. I never called anyone a fag to their face or did any act of violence. I just vocalized the anti-gay sentiment that was common at the time. I grew up in the American South.

The funny thing was, at that same time, I had several friends who were gay. But because they were not openly gay, there was no strain on our platonic relationship. I could not have sustained a friendship with someone who was openly gay at that time. It would have been obvious and hypocritical.

Now that I am older and living in the Pacific Northwest, I am constantly encountering people who are openly gay. They no longer make me feel uncomfortable. The gay rights political agenda is a turn off, but that is all. Frankly, any kind of political agenda is now a major turn off. I used to be a Republican, and yes, I voted for Bush in 2000 (but not in 2004).

I don't think there are many people who truly hate gay people. They simply don't want to be identified as gay, nor do they want to get sucked up the in political debates. If you stop pushing the hot-buttons, most people are really pretty tolerant about sexuality---as long as it doen't involve children or animals.

Instead of "Gay or Straight", I prefer "As If It Really Matters".

Get over it guys, Ladyboys and the men who love them are a minority there will always be someone to hate them because of this minority status.
Don't fool yourself with that Native American Crock. I live in a state with one of the largest native American populations and I am aguainted with several and guess what they don't like nor understand gays either.
There will always be people who are less understanding and careing about the needs of otheirs.

I think y'all are missing a critical point.

I've been reading a lot, lot on ancient cultures the last year. My current book is on ancient Roman and Greek societies. In those times, there was NO prejudice against gay sex or gays. There are even very famous roman judicial outcomes in favor of gays.

My point in this is that the 'hatred' of gays, blacks, or whatever, is NOT inside us. It is created by a group social hatred of certain minorities. There are so many examples of this, that it's not worth expressing, except to some people who think minority hatred is part of nature. Anyone with children knows this is just not true; kids are pure with no ill feelings for anyone, black, gay, one leg, two legs, ugly, pretty.

So 'hatred' will come and go as society changes. On television now, you often see a ho-hum expression when they talk about a new gay person revealing themself. And broadcasters defend gay rights. So it is obvious to me at least, that in some time, the majority of people will not hate gays, much as was noted, that 'hatred' of blacks has diminished. As we didn't have a gene change that I know of in the last 50 years, that is yet more evidence that hatred is purely a construct of society and not of human nature.

So, maybe in some time in the future, we will get back to nature, like a circle returning back to ancient Roman times.

Ziggy will disagree with you that children are born pure. Believing in reincarnation brings with it a different outlook. One that says we bring certain traits with us from pass lives bringing with us issues both good and bad that need to be worked out and corrected.
So why not bring dislike or hatred toward certain groups from pass lives. I will not get into a discussion about reincarnation it is much like the gay issue. One of those things some except and some don't.

Do you have kids? I can only speak for the kids I know, and reincarnation or not, I cannot recall a prejudice inkling in any I've known until society taught them it, and then, it was the particular society they were born in.

I have two kids and they were both raised believing in reincarnation and karma. They both do a lot of stuff they were not taught at home and they both have personality quirks I often wonder were the fuck did this come from.
