Guys and Dolls
I have lately been involved in the procedure of getting married with an LB in an European Union country where the Gay marriages are allowed (although I am not gay, I am forced to do so since my LB GF still has a male ID ) , I create this guide/thread for the benefit of the ones who have not yet decided and/or still thinking about it.
European Union has voted, allowed and enforced the gay marriage laws to all European Countries but not all of them still allow them. All of them should accept the EU normative within the next 3 to 6 years but depending on the governments (right or left wing, etc) will vote them or not during their governing time. For example, Italy, where someone can find the biggest trans lover population as well as the best looking transsexuals of Europe (subject to discussions) will not allow gay marriages for at least another 5 to 6 years due to the Catholic Church. On the contrary, a very Catholic country like Spain allows them for the last 2 years and just 2 weeks ago allowed LBs to change on their IDs their sex even without going through SEX CHANGE OPERATION (Spain is years ahead regarding human rights compared to many more wealthy EU countries...). I think Thailand, the country with the biggest LB population on Earth, should follow Spain's example in this aspect... anyway.
I have mentioned above about Gay Marriages because I assume that you THAI GF has not yet changed her identification Document even if she has successfully undergone sex change operation. So, here are the documents and procedures you need to fulfill.
Documents:
1) Official Birth Certificate (both place and date of birth should be there)
2) Official criminal record (less than 3 month old). It may sound funny, but all European countries would like to know if you are getting married to a serial killer
3) Sign a piece of document (testifying) that states you are not married and if so bring the documentation that testifies you have been successfully divorced (and not yet in courts, etc.)
4) Sign together in the presence of a witness a piece of document (usually takes place in site) that says that both you would like to get married (sound stupid I know)
5) Photocopies of valid passports and real passports (witness both during the first meeting and later on should also carry their ID)
6) Sometimes depending on the EU country you may need to provide a document that states that your LB gf is allowed to get married in this particular EU country. Strange...
Procedures:
1) All documents (for the Thai LBs and you) should be less than 3 months old and translated to the official language of the country you are going to get marry
2) Your future wife (lb) , you and your friend (as witness) appear at the site and sign the piece of paper in the presence of the public administrator that says you would like to marry
3) Deliver the rest of the documentation. The documentation will be checked and you will be assigned a number or date and time for getting married. This procedure may take days or months depending on the volume of CIVIL marriages before you. In some countries like the UK is ever restricted to so many numbers per year
4) Finally, once you have been assigned a date you appear there and you get married (so easy as it sounds). By doing so, you automatically allow your LB wife to get an EU green card within days
I hope that this discussion will be useful to the ones who would like to get married to an LB now or in the future.
Please fell free to add your comments and/or new information regarding marriages in EU, US etc.
