A slightly old topic, but not discussed for a long time.

Many of us were married, loved GGs all our life, maybe even were anti-gay. Then we met LBs and never looked back.

From an extremely scientific study of looking at guys in the bars, it seems the median age of LB lovers is 40-55.

So the question is why?

It is extremely rare to see a 20y old guy in a LB bar. When one does, the girls whoop and holler and die to get him (unfortunately, showing that we are not exactly their first choice!).

Despite many attempts to answer this, I don't think any of us really came up with a good answer. Certainly, for myself, I can't really explain it, except to say, 'it just happened'. From 12-40 or so, I was a sex-crazed GG man. From 41-47, I can count on my hands the times I've been with a girl.

I don't need to anal-lize it. First sexual experience was with a school chum, about 13 or 14. Man talk about creating alot of shit in ones head. Went from that to fucking a lot of ladies in asia while in the Navy but was always drawn to the gay side as well. Eventually married couple of kids, and the ocasional gay lover or transvestite.
 After divorce and a couple of girlfriends back to asia and back to home. I have been in the p4p sceen off and on for over 40 years and in the course of that time have come to understand myself quite well. I like sex and will enjoy it no matter what is tossed at me.

One reason... Young people have busy lives and tend to do what other people expect them to do... so they don't have a lot of time to sit about exploring sexual options.

One more... Thailand is expensive and most young people won't spend their cash coming here even if they could spare it.

Shame, guilt and opportunity all play a part favouring older guys too.

Let's not overlook sexual demands and sophistication. Humping women the same way simply get's fucking boring after a few decades. Older guys have nothing to prove by scoring and are probably unable to compete with the younger guys anyhow.

I had no weird tendencies for the first 30 or so years of my life. Not even a dream or a fantasy involving TVs, LBs or a guy. I didn't meet any gay people or TVs and my sex life was pretty much the dullest fucking thing you can imagine.

For me - some instinctive hunger kicked in during my mid 30s and then I just knew I'd end up living here in Thailand fucking feminine ladyboys. I got addicted to the available porn, went on line and chatted to loads and finally chucked my old life away and started a proper one here a few years ago...

If there is a science to it I couldn't begin to put it into words...

Is it not more possible that most single males travelling to thailand fall into the middle aged bracket (or older ) for the reason they,ve settled down in the past , got divorced or whatever and are now getting the opertunity for the first time to do this ?

Money is a big thing, as Stogie has said a 2 week trip to Thailand with flights and spends is almost £2k. Most younger people are just starting off and have mortgages and car payments and very little disposable income, and most get "rushed" into the marrying and having a family bracket pretty soon too.

secondly, as you pass 40 or so the inhibitions fall away, and we now dont actually give a fuck about what we do in our spare time whilst younger guys go through the guilt thing, as is seen in many of "how gay am I" posts.

I think that many other contributors have hit on a number of reasons, for a growing interest in lb action, as we get older. Hmmm.. when I was a teenager or then in my early twenties I was conventional as far as my generation were i.e I fancied girls, fantasised about Jacqueline Bisset (Englishmen of a certain age you know the poster I mean) and assumed that I would eventually settle with a wife +2.3 or whatever the figure is.

Been there did that and stopped living for twenty years.

Now I have woken up discovered LBs and more importantly can afford to indulge my tastes - yes I now have a bulge in my trousers and its all baht notes!

However I think this is a journey that you have to make. If you are openly gay then presumably you fancy fit athletic guys, if you become a LB lover I suspect you have arrived at the point where attitude and willingness to get down and dirty are more important than "the plumbing".

IMHO being attracted to LBs is no different to the attractions of GGs. Some I find attractive, some leave me cold and some make me gag for it. Fortunately most of the latter work in the Guess Bar so I shall know where to come on arrival!!

Who holidays alone when on holidays? Who has mates they can happily admit to interests outside the accepted norm. For me it was all about divorcing and travelling (for work and holiday) on my own a lot and actually doing things I wanted to do without having to consider how friends/family might look at it. Simple - opportunity.

You made me realize there are 2 critical parts to the answer:

-Practicality
-Psychology

For practicality, if you haven't visited Thailand, you are far, far less likely to meet and be able to take out a beautiful LB, therefore, lust for them is perhaps not 'created'. And if you are young, maybe you don't have the cash to come to Thailand. Finally, at least when I was young, I always travelled with a buddy, and it was hard to indulge in a fantasy that they might not appreciated. Being older, I almost always travel alone now and thus anything goes.

On the psychology side, I think maybe we'll never nail this, but certainly a common theme is 'getting older have to try everything', and some aspect of 'I don't give a damn what people think', wherease, when you're young, fucking girls is still pretty good, and there is a lot of self-conscious feelings about what other people think.

What do you think, is that pretty close to the answer?

Is there a "scientific continuum", with one end of the continuum being "extremely" scientific?

The posts here make a lot of sense , it really must be a number of factors .
Having money , being free , willing to be different , not giving a shit what people think of you , comfort with your own sexuality ... these things probably only come with age .... ten years ago I wouldnt have the balls to do what Im doing now

Example - A group of friends of mine ( all young guys in their early twenties ) have just returned from Thailand .
They visited on the recomondation of a few of us who had been before ... they loved our tales of debauchery .
They had a great holiday , but us "older hands " were left dissapointed with their tales
They spent two weeks wasted on drink and yabba
They had a problem having to pay for sex
Not a lot of sex happened ( which is no suprise given the first two points )
They seemed totally uncomfortable with ladyboys .

What was a great holiday to them would be a holiday from hell to the rest of us

Maybe older , wiser (hopefully ) knowing what you want isnt a bad place to be
