It's an interesting story for sure. Looks to me like this lucky man dodged a bullet, but that aside...
To me the interesting aspect of this case is how the BBC has respectfully referred to the victim as female in every way. In fact her sexual identity has, if anything, been underplayed in this story.
And this in a country where it would be so easy to create a sensational story because of the way the British are so poorly educated about sexual identity and diversity.
If this had been reported here in Thailand by the local media (and global home of the 'ladyboy') there would have been all kinds of masculine references to the victim to the point where the adolescent standards of journalism would have confused the two protagonists in this tragic story altogether.
Good job by the BBC...
