  • Beware of Dr. Kamol Pansritum of Bangkok

About a year ago, I published on the Internet, a copy of a letter that I had sent to the United States Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand regarding me being surgically scared and mutilated, as a medical tourist, by Dr. Kamol Pansritum, a plastic surgeon in Thailand, specializing in sex change surgery (See below letter too the United States Embassy). After I published this letter on the Internet, I was aggressively cyber stalked, my E-mail account was hacked into, I was sent threatening E-mails, and was scathingly attack on the Internet by Dr. Kamol's Internet marketing staff for the purpose of flaming me and/or to destroy my credibility. His attack on my credibility is quite ironic, and is a classic example of a wealthy and powerful villain attempting to turn the tables, for his selfish self interests, in making his weak and defenseless victim out to be the villain.

I will take this opportunity to put to rest, hopefully for all time, the issue of who is the victim and who is the villain, who is the Internet scam artist and who has used false and misleading advertising over the Internet to sell his questionable services. But, before I start, I would like to remind the reader of a very useful Latin phrase and piece of philosophy used for hundreds of years for getting at the truth: The term is "Que Bo no" which means who benefits by what is being claimed, or argued? In this case it is quite self evident.

The purpose of the letter I had sent to the American Embassy was clear and unmistakable. Its purpose was to notify American government officials of the harm done to me as an American citizen and as medical tourist while in Thailand. This letter was also to help make American government officials aware of the increased numbers of Americans traveling too Thailand as medical tourists, and the resulting risks to American citizens of devastating medical harm done by incompetent and unscrupulous medical doctors in Thailand.

This heightened risk of harm is not only a result of Thai doctors' medical malpractice and incompetence, but is a result of the lack of medical malpractice laws in Thailand to protect American medical tourists, and the profound corruption endemic within the country of Thailand. Transparency International ranks Thailand as one of the most corrupt countries on earth!

The final purpose of my letter too the American Embassy was to suggest that United States government officials take more action to protect its citizens traveling as medical tourists from medical malpractice and corruption in Thailand. Specifically, I suggested that these efforts should target Thai and other medical doctors that are marketing and advertising to prospective medical tourists risky and dangerous medical procedures on the unregulated Internet. Many of the claims of these Internet advertisements', including those from questionable doctors located in third world countries, speak for themselves. But, in the case of medical tourism, these false and misleading claims can quite easily be a matter of life and death.

But now I would like to focus on the facts of my case that quite easily point to the truth of the matter. I will start with the least condemning issues, and work my way too the more glaring and substantial factual issues that clearly demonstrate, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the truth about the questionable business and medical practices of Dr. Kamol Pansritum.

#1) Just by a brief and simple review of what has been written in my letter too the United States Embassy and the inconsistencies in the claims of what the doctor's Internet Marketing staff has written in response, clearly casts a shadow of doubt on the doctor's claims and intentions. The glaringly obvious inconsistencies in his false statements and written public attacks on me over the Internet, in response to me publishing a copy of my letter to the American Embassy is self evident.

#2) A related and equally condemning issue regarding the creditability of the doctor is his violation of internationally recognized patient/doctor confidentially issues while attempting to flame me on the Internet. His Internet Marketing staff has not only published information on the Internet regarding my private medical file in the doctor's office, but also has published information about my private life that was not provided to the doctor, and was completely not relevant to my medical relationship with his office. This information could only have been obtained through a deliberate effort in seeking it after the fact, which clearly points to the issue of cyber stalking.

#3) In a related issue; Dr. Kamol's office sending me harrasing E-mails.Contained in one of these was a claim that he had changed the name of his medical practice in his Internet advertisements. I recieved this E-mail soon after I published my letter of complaint on the Internet. So, at the first sign of trouble, Dr. Kamol's Internet Marketing staff had informed me that the doctor had changed the name of his medical practice, appearently to run and hide from the truth. I have no way of verifying the veracity of this claim in his E-mail too me.

#4) Dr. Kamol Pansritum and/or his Internet marketing staff making false and misleading claims about his association with the only American accredited hospital in Thailand Bumrungrad Hospital. (Please see below a copy of the doctor's Internet advertisement from his web page). His web page advertisement clearly and unambiguously falsely claims his association with Bumrungrad Hospital of Bangkok, the only American accredited hospital in Thailand. This association is really played up on the doctor's web page.

#5) Finally, a quite intriguing issue that speaks of the corrupt nature of Thailand in general and to the questionable professional loyalties of Dr. Kamol Pansritum. The issue can be most effectively highlighted by the blatant inconsistencies between the very name of the doctor's medical practice MtF ( Male to Female) Aesthetic Surgery Center and the doctor's and his medical staff's association with what is know in Thailand as "Police Medicine." (Please see below copy of the doctor's web page in regards to his medical associates and himself, and their qualifications). In the doctor's web page he is advertising as a sex change doctor and his and his medical staff's association with "Police Medicine and law enforcement. The reader may not truly understand the blatant contradiction of a sex change doctor publicly claiming such a strong association with "Police Medicine and law enforcement unless you are familiar with the highly charged antagonistic relationship that exists between transsexuals and police in Thailand and around the world. If you are a transsexual seeking a sex change, you would never knowingly seek it from a doctor and/or medical practice with any associated with police medicine, or law enforcement!

The above is only a few of many issues not mentioned about my nightmare experience that this doctor has caused to my life. Much of the damage done to me by this doctor is irreversible, and I will be forced to spend the rest of my life scared and disfigured from his surgeries to me. Given, the nature and magnitude of the harm done to me, the doctor's callus and insensitive response immediately following my surgery and his later statements regarding me on the Internet are inconceivable and speak to the truth of this matter. Why does a medical doctor need a full time Internet marketing staff anyways? But, you can certainly see the results. Just type his name on the Internet, he is all over the web!

To the American Embassy, U.S. Citizen's Services:
As an individual, my circumstances, and/or opinion may not be of any significance. But, I feel compelled to help guard my fellow Americans from the harmful experiences I was forced to endure as a medical tourist to Thailand from the United States.

Over a year ago, I dropped by the United States Embassy in Bangkok, to pick up a copy of the list of Attorneys that it compiles for Americans in Thailand seeking legal assistance. My reasons for doing so, had to do with me attempting to file a medical malpractice complaint against a Thai plastic surgeon that had badly scarred, mutilated, and disfigured my face. Please see the following brief description of this experience:

As an American, I have been scared, mutilated, and disfigured by offshore plastic surgery in Thailand. I traveled to Thailand for plastic-reconstructive surgery because it was too expensive in the United States, and American insurance companies would not cover the cost of the procedure because they viewed it as an elective surgery. Before going to Thailand, I did months of research on Thai doctors and hospitals in my price range, and thought I had made the right decision until after the surgery, when my doctor (Dr. Kamol Panritum of the Aesthetic Surgery Center) took off the bandages from my face.

Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of my Thailand nightmare. After the doctor refused to refund my money, or pay to have the damage he had done to my face fixed by another doctor, or do the surgery over again himself; I attempted to report the doctor to government and professional medical associations to no avail. I was completely ignored by the Medical Council of Thailand, the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand, and the Medical Association of Thailand. I wrote a formal complaint to the hospital (Piyavate Hospital of Bangkok) where the surgery was performed, and it was ignored. The doctor had falsely claimed in his Internet advertising to be associated with Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok, the only American accredited hospital in Thailand.

Even the attorney I attempted to hire, just gave me a run around for several weeks promising to take action against the doctor and never doing so. He initially was very eager to take my case, but shortly after doing so, he not only lost interest in the case, but became an apologist for the doctor. This appeared to have everything to do with me being a foreigner, attempting to take legal action against a wealthy and influential Thai plastic surgeon.

I later discovered that there are extremely few successful medical malpractice cases against medical doctors in Thailand that result in a cash award. Currently, there are only about 60 outstanding medical malpractice case on file with the Medical Council of Thailand for the entire country, and this number of cases is being pointed to by Thai Medical Council authorities as being unacceptably large.

It appears that if something goes wrong with a medical procedure in Thailand, and your are a foreigner, you have few, if any options of redress, and are completely at the mercy of the doctor. Thai attorneys will gladly take your case; and certainly your money, but what is uncertain, is if they will do anything more than take your money. These attorneys certainly must be aware of how few of these cases ever succeed, but there are many attorneys in Thailand that claim they do medical malpractice work.

Medical tourism is rapidly becoming more popular in America, and more Americans are traveling to Thailand to seek potentially dangerous, and risky medical procedures. I, as an American medical tourist to Thailand, am one of many Americans that have chosen this option, and the numbers are growing very rapidly. It seems to me, that the American Embassy should take a more proactive posture, in guarding, protecting, and informing its people of the very real dangers in seeking complicated medical procedure in Thailand, and of the truth about the practical limits to legal redress, if something goes wrong.

If the United States Embassy can publish alerts, warnings, and advice on teaching English in Thailand on its website, it certainly could do a better job addressing the dangers of Medical Tourism in Thailand. Further, the Thai government should be made aware of the increase concern that the United States government has about the exposure of its citizens to the dangers and limitations of Thai medical practice, and the limits of the legal system in Thailand to redress issues of medical malpractice. Americans are being harmed at ever increasing numbers.

If you have any information concerning private and government organizations in Thailand that I should contact in my attempt to hold this doctor accountable for the damage he has done to my face and life, I would much appreciate it. Please respond to this E-mail as soon as possible, by writing me at: @yahoo.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,
    Heather

The need for a website that rates & tracks the quality of sex change doctors.

Sex change doctors that advertise on the world wide web, should be held accountable for their claims, and for the quality of care they provide their web clientele, by the existence of a consumer protection type of website, strictly devoted to rating these doctors.

Many of these doctors, practice medicine in under developed, third world countries where there are no real consumer protection, or medical malpractice laws to protect, particularly, international medical patients, from harm done by medical malpractice, or false and misleading advertisements. This does not speak to the issues of the endemic corruption problems within the health care profession in many of these countries such as Thailand.

Further, many of these plastic surgeons are practicing medicine in countries where the state of medical care, and particularly cosmetic surgery is very poor. For example, plastic surgery is rapidly becoming very popular in China, but 60% of all cosmetic surgery performed in this country, is an attempt to repair damage done from past surgeries.

We, as trans gender people, are extremely vulnerable to these less than reputable international-Internet plastic surgeons, not just because of the lack of laws, or the lack of integrity of these laws to extend equal protection to trans gender people, but because the emotional desperation and sense of urgency trans gender people feel to undergo a surgical sex change procedure, as soon as possible. We are frequently compelled to grasp at the first, and cheapest option available. This is an issue of emotional desperation for most of us! We are forced by society to feel this way.

Even in the best of legal circumstances, given the pervasive, and pandemic prejudice, and discrimination, trans gender people face, we can not expect local government authorities in the third world, or even the first world, to do the right thing, and treat us fairly by extending to us the same legal protections they extend to all others.

We must empower ourselves!!!!! We must protect our selves! We must speak out! There must be transparency in regards to the quality of medical care these Internet doctors are providing! There must be a website that rates, and tracks these doctors! This can be a matter of life and death!

    Sincerely yours,
    Heather

Great letter and not surprising one bit, if you visit Thailand often and meet the ladyboys [or see the results from these "Doctors" on their patients personally] you would know that bad surgery's happen literally daily, it's quite common.

This should be published for a wider audience to see.

Good luck, too bad for what happened to you.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I just have to ask .Did you have others that you taked or communicated with in regards to how good of a doctor this fellow really was? References is always a good thing to acquire espeically if your looking at some radical surgery as SRS etc. I just could not imagine anyone simply finding a doctor on the internet and taking what is on his website as the gospile truth, not even a doctor here in the states or in another country. Referrences referrences referrences is what is needed as a bare minimum.

I find one thing that is of interest in yur post. You stated you shopped for a doctor in your "price range" I just have a problem looking for a bargain or discount doc no matter what I am going to the doctor for. I hope that what has been done can be rectifed by a doc with knowledge of how things need tobe, and wish you the best. But surgery is one thing that most often once its done its done and there is no way around it that can make it better. I shudder to htink of foks that get knee and hip replacements here in the states or even transplanted organs........when that old joint or that organ is cut and removed its over with and the doc still gets his money no matter how it turns out. Too bad they do not make docs keep the money they get paid in an escrow account until both parties are satisfied. That would be one way of ensuring crap like this does not happen.

Thanks very much for the warning. If I ever decide to have that kind of surgery, I'll be sure to avoid Dr. Kamol.

Surely gender reassignment surgery is high risk at the best of times? You are asking a surgeon to defy nature. Sometimes, the consequences are very nasty. Maybe that's why most LBs take the less risky option of silicone breasts and remain fully functional down below.

Same thread on the Lonely Planet website!

Seems this 'hit and run' poster has laid her story all over the internet.

I look at having your cock cut off the same way I see Lasik surgery...

It's not something you want to shop around for to "get a good deal."

You find out who the best is and pay them what they ask...

There are always two sides of every story and I'd be interested to hear from the Doctor...

It could be that this person was simply a whiny Yank tourist who complained about everything from day one and pissed everyone off... it could be that she didn't bother with the after care program at all...

However; I strongly suspect that it was that her expectations were that this surgery would somehow 'turn her into a woman' when, in fact, all it does is move around some body parts - you are still the same person at the end of the day.

Actually - having taken the time to reread the entire post I've come to the conclusion that I was right.

She had unrealistic expectations and then set about trying to extract American justice from a country where her sort of justice doesn't exist.

So - she goes on to blame her lawyer, the medical council of Thailand and pretty much anyone who gets in her way.

You came looking for a difficult elective surgical procedure in Thailand and pretty much got what you paid for.

Sorry you ain't happy, love, but it's time to look for peace, NOT justice.

                Same Doctor ~ Different Story!

My name is Desrea and this is my story of SRS with Dr Kamol Pansritum in Bangkok Thailand.

I underwent Sexual Reasignment Surgery and Breast Augmentaion with Dr Kamol on March 14th 2004. I made this decision after many hours of study on the subject. I found that either the results that some surgoens were getting were not what I was looking for or that they're prices were completely out of line and something I would never be able to afford. I found Dr Kamol, quite by accident and after looking at his web site found his results to be pleasing and his prices more than fair. After doing as much research on his practice as possible I decided to schedule my surgery with him. This has turned out to be one of the best decisions Ive made in my life!

I think we all go through the same feelings when we finally decide to under go such a life changing procedure. We read as much as we can..hear all the horror stories..attempt to make our best decision and go with it. I guess it has to do alot with the fact that your best chance of sucsess is your first surgery. If that one doesnt go right chances are your going to go through hell. I had been trying to get to the point finacialy to have SRS for several years before I made
it. I went through several surgoen choices but due to increasing fees I just could afford them. I had grown so frustrated that a sharp butcher knife had at times sounded like a workable option! I finally scheduled surgery on March 15
2004! Ofcourse I still didnt have all the money I needed but I put myself under the gun to come up with it by that date! It was January then so I had two months! The next two months were filled with ups and downs and finally..the day
before I was to leave for Thailand..I had the money!!

I left for Bangkok on March 12. I had never been to another country so I had all kinds of feelings going on! But surprisingly enough I felt rather calm. I knew what I had to do. It had become very obvious to me that I must have this surgery in order to survive!

I arrived in Bangkok at nearly midnight. After clearing customs I headed out to the front of the airport where everything changed. That was when I met Aom, Dr Kamols wonderful wife and her assistant Jen. It was like meeting long lost
friend actually. They made me feel like I was home with friends and that I had nothing to worry about. On the way to my motel I found out that my surgery had been moved up to the 14th because I had got there a day earlier than planned which thrilled me to death! I spent the rest of that night really unable to sleep much. At 11am the next morning Aom came to take me to the hospital to meet Dr K.

They checked me into the hospital and then I was led down a hallway to a exam room where the Dr was at. I was a bit in awe meeting him as I guess most of us are when we meet our surgoen for the first time. I mean this is the guy thats
going to fix what has been wrong for so many years! After meeting for about a hour to decide exactly what I wanted Aom took me upstairs to my room. She ordered lunch for us and we spent most of the rest of the afternoon just
talking. She left aroud 5 pm and all that was left to do was wait for tomorrow!

My surgery was suposed to be at 10 am but got pushed back until 4 pm. This gave the nurses plenty of time to do all the wonderful things to me that needed to be done. I wont get into it but if the pumped me any more full of water I thing I would have exploded!! Finally they came to get me and take me to the operating theater. I met with the anesthesiologist Dr. Surasak Juajarungjai who asked me all the normal questions that they ask plus a few new ones. I had the option of a spinal block which was suposed to really cut down the pain after I woke up and I was more than happy to have that! Dr K came in as they were giving me the block and assured me again that everything would be fine. They wished me a pleasant sleep and I looked at the clock..6pm.

When I woke up and looked around I was in another room with no pain! I glanced at a clock and it said 6:15!
At first I thought something had gone wrong and they were unable to do the surgery! I soon found out it was 6:15 am! I slowly felt the bandage around my chest and then down to the one between my legs! I just layed there crying for a
few minutes knowing that finally things were right!

The next few days were spent trying to shake off the effects of the anesthesia. I couldnt keep anything down and really felt quite misserable...but really no pain! I was taken back to my room where I found a huge bouqette of flowers set
to me by Dr K and his staff! That was a perfect excuse for more crying time!! At about 3 pm a whole herd of nurses came into my room...they seem to run in herds there!!! Dr K was not far behind them and his first words to me were "Hows the baby girl". More crying time ! He removed my bandage and I got my first look at his handywork! He cleaned my surgical area and when he bumped against my clitoris I nearly went through the ceiling!!! He just looked at me and smiled!

The rest of my stay in the hospital was really pretty uneventful. By day three I was feeling alot of discomfort but not really any major pain. My breasts hurt far more than my SRS ever did. I was just waiting for day 6 to get there so I
could get out of bed!! Finally I was taken to a exam room where I met the Dr and he removed all of my external stiches and vaginal packing...aproximately 6 miles of it or so it seemed!! I was told I could go back to my room and get ready to go back to the hotel. I got back to my room and that was when I finally got a good look at the new me! More crying time!!! Finally my body looked like what my mind said it should!!

The next two weeks were spent learning about the new me. I was taken care of by a nurse that would come to my room every day and clean my wound, dilate me and massage my breasts! I found dilation to not be terribly painful but just anoying. The breast massage on the other hand was really not alot of fun! Imagine having a 100 pound Thai girl doing pushups on a new surgical site!! Not my idea of a good time but certianly a must to get both natual feeling and
                looking breasts.

I found that I was somewhat afraid of my new genitals. I guess I was afraid that I would break it or something! I did alot of looking but was afraid to do much more than I was required to do. It was really not until I got back home before I
started to explore much! I did find out when doing the first dilation that Dr Kamol had done exactly as I asked. I had made it very clear that depth was very important to me. He had told me he could get me 6" and thats exactly what I
                had!! I couldnt be happier!

After 23 days in Thailand I said my goodbyes to my new friends I had made....more crying time! Jen took me to the airport early the next morning which closes the chapter on my wonderful trip to Thailand.

I am now almost 5 months post op and life is now as it was suposed to be. I am one of the fortunate ones. I have had no complications from surgery what so ever! I was told that I could engage in sexual activities as soon as I could
dilate with my biggest dilator comfortably! At week 9 I was there! At 10 weeks post op I had sex for the first time with very little pain at all..and believe me! There was some more crying time there!! Since then I have been very sexually
active and it gets better every time! I am very orgasmic but it took awhile for me to figure out how to get there. My first big O was at about 14 weeks post op.

Today I look back at my experience in amazment! I have to be one of the luckiest women in the world to go through this with no problems at all! The only issue at all that I have is in this post I made to Dr K's yahoo group that I
started shortly after I got back from Thailand. The address to this group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SRS_Dr_Kamol_Pansritum/ and here is the post.
                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                ---
                Hi All
As I have stated in earlier posts I will have to under go a second labiaplasy. This is due totally to my dicision and has nothing to do with Dr K's work. The day before my surgery when I met with the Dr to discuss my options I made it very clear to him that depth was of the upmost importance. I was told that I was a bit short on "building material" and that getting the depth I required was possible but at the expence of other areas. This is exactly what happened. I have a
great functioning vagina but now its time to fix the little bit of cosmetic issues I have.

I recently emailed Dr K's office to find out just how much this would cost so that I could put the funds together and schedule. I just recieved a email back from Aom (Dr K's wife) stating that there would be no charge for this procedure and that it is considered a revision!! This is amasing to me because its a situation made by MY CHOICE..not anything
the Dr did incorrectly! Im sure there are plenty of surgoens out there that will fix they're mistakes for free, but fix a situation created by a patience decision? Thats unheard of as far as I am concererned!

Its just one more thing in a long list of things that have shown me the caring of Dr Kamol and his staff. Looking for a surgoen? I dont think you'll find better!

                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                ---

In closing Ill say this. I think that we all beat the drum of the surgoen that has finally "fixed us". Im certianly no different. Dr Kamol and his staff showed me love, compasion and caring. He gave me a result that I am very happy with and for a price that I could afford. So if you want to ask me who the best SRS surgoen is I think you know what my answer will be! I wish you all the sucsess that Ive had in this wonderful journey!

                Hugs

                  Another testimonial...

Being born at September 22, 1977, surrounded by mama, papa, grandparents, and aunts, at that moment, I was raised by a very warm and happy extended family. I recognize that I would highly love to be a "girl." I hadn't been at all thinking I'm a "boy." Although my parents truly disagreed with my behavior, I realized that I hadn't done anything bad to other people. I strongly feel that I have such a tender and sensitive emotion and sensation deep inside of my interior, also exterior personality.

At the age of 10, since catching up with a great number of beauty contests on television, furthermore, learning Porntip "Bui" Nakhirunkanok managed to be crowned as Miss Universe 1988, I began thinking about being a complete woman. I'd love to be beautiful and attractive as Porntip is. I started talking and consulting with my friends who had the same interest as minefor many times. Many told me that hormones are firstly and necessarily needed and recommended. I spent fairly long time to study and deal with feminine hormones, and that's the first step of my sweet dream. Sure, I started taking hormones at the age of 13 with the first remedy, "contraceptive tablets," designed by Thaliand's Ministry of Health, which cost quite inexpensive. Until at 16, I began my new beauty formula by taking "Diane-35," the well-known and popular contraceptive among Thai "lady-boys" who prepare themselves to become a complete woman.

At the age of 17, I managed to pass the entrance examination and to enter English Department, Faculty of Humanities, Chiang Mai University. Since then, I learned more about how most become a complete woman by me senior friends. In the year 1999, a friend of mine who attended Mass Communications major underwent the "sex reassignment surgery (SRS)." This topic became very well-known since she was the first case who took the SRS while attending the university level. That's compared to the enchantment for me and encouraged me also to deal with the SRS. I had talked to my mother about my desire. At first, it seemed to me that she was uninterested in what I had told her. However, when the time passed by, about 3 years later, incredibly, she thought over on the topic and decided to let me handle with the SRS. I couldn't tell anyone about my feeling at that moment. I didn't think the SRS would be such a simply matter for me, but it eventually was. I'm so thankful that my mother understood my deep feeling.

Then, in April 2002, at the age of 24, since being told from a great mumber of friends who joined the Miss Tiffany's Universe Pageant in Pattaya, I had a chance to get to know the reputation of Dr. Kamol Pansritum, a surgeon who I could completely trust in. I therefore made the most crucial decision of my life. From Chiang Mai, truly by alone, I took a trip down to Dr.kamol to undergo the SRS with him in April 6. At first, I confess that I was quite afraid of what was going to happen to my stay in the hospital since that was the first time in my life I did. Nonetheless, I also had a chance to get to know the wife of Dr. Kamol, "Mrs. Siriphen Phansrithum," or "Phee Orm" whose hospitality and kindness extremely captured my heart. Her genuine behavioral qualifications made me comfortable and ease my stress. Without any worrit, I therefore felt courage to go ahead to undergo the SRS.

Although I sometimes felt lonesome during April 7-12, the period of time I was on the bed in the hospital, the atmosphere of the suite room, including the turn-taking visit of nurses and "Phee Orm" to have some talks to me everyday fortunately made me felt very warm and comfortable. They encouraged me to smile, laugh, and talk to them. Furthermore, Dr. Kamol came to check up the result and my body at 2 pm. everyday. Until the last day of my stay in the hospital, also the first day of mine to appreciate the new life in the world, I could come out from the hospital with the completely happy smiles. The first thing coming up to my mind at that moment is that I thought of my parents. I knew that they would be very happy to learn that I was so contented with the new life. After coming out from the hospital, I was brought to Dr. Kamol's clinic to be taught about how to take care of the SRS result, and how to keep it clean and safe. Until April 14, I came up back home in Chiang Mai with hthe hapy life and pride to become a complete woman.

I'd like to thank Dr. Kamol Pansritum, Phee Orm, and colleague who made my dream come true. I truly experienced the tender, comfortable, and gorgeous hospitality during the surgery and recovery period. I strongly believe that this will be remaining with me throughout all the rest of my life.

Reading this story I was appalled and could understand the anger BUT when reading about Medical malpractice etc a thought occurred to me.

Why is the USA Medical cost so expensive - because doctors pay large amounts in insurance premiums to cover themselves for malpractice suits.

Why is Thailand less expensive - no, or limited, malpractice suits nor malpractice insurance premiums.

As subsequently posted if you want guarantees etc then expect to pay more.

Some years ago on a Caribbean Island someone asked "what do you do if you get sick" - a local replied "Go to the airport and fly to Miami - they will kill you here".

In the UK/USA it has become common practice to 'sue' just about anyone for anything. This puts pressure on insurance companies to increase premiums and then leads to providers needing to increase charges to cover those ever increasing premiums. Even as an independent business consultant, in the UK, it was necessary to have insurance for professional indemnity.

So as much as I empathise with the post, you do get what you pay for. Certainly for elective surgery a lot of research would be necessary, and a full understanding of their and your liabilities, before proceeding.

Anyone who comes to LOS and allows some doctor to start chopping on their face should be having the operation done just a little higher...on their brain...

You go to LOS for tits and vaginas...that's what they specialize in...Cosmetic surgery on the face is really a crap shoot everywhere....most especially so in a third world country....

You're chasing windmills if you seriously think that you're gonna change the medical and legal professions in LOS...

Very true, ther are many differences between the cosmetic surgery requirements of Asians and Westerners.

For example, Rhinoplasty (Nose reshaping) in Asia means building a more prominent nose to replace the flat one.

In the west it is to shorten one that is too big or reshape and curve.

well, you're the one who moved it!

the News room gets more views after all....

I seem to remember another thread up here last year regarding this fool and him being compared to some Christ-like figure ..... pretty funny of course, considering the poster had never been mutilated by the ol'  quack.

I wonder if Heather would agree with that assessment?

Good line about trying to find peace, SB .... the damage can't be reversed and as hard as it may be to swallow it's time to live with the mistake
