    Transgender ASIA

I don't know if this has been posted before, but it is an interesting website:

    TransgenderASIA

Welcome to the Transgender ASIA Research Centre. The Centre seeks to bring together psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, as well as medical and legal experts who share a desire to better understand the phenomenon of transgenderism, as well as the circumstances in which transpeople (transgendered people) live, in Asia. This website aims to promote and disseminate research and understanding of, as well as contributing towards efforts to effect social change in regard to, transgenderism in Asia.

Yes, it is. A few of those researchers/professors are good friends of mine. They are in close contact with the only support group in the Philippines called STRAP (Society of TRAnssexual women of the Philippines), which I am a member of.

            I see..

While STRAP doesnt discriminate girls in the P4P industry (we actually invite those who work on the streets to join us AND have two active members who used to be sex workers in Japan), we strongly support those who decide to make her livelihood means elsewhere (sorry guys..).

I've met Sam Winter on a couple of occasions in the past both socially and professionally. His handling of the issue of transgenderism is both dedicated, enthusiastic and informed.

His earthy demeanor also makes him an easy person to work with and learn from.

Yeah Ive met him a few times here in Manila as well. We even had him as a guest speaker for one of our meetings from STRAP. A very enlightening man, indeed.

I agree with you Miss Naang Faa! This book isnt PC at all.  Using "transsexual men" strongly suggests a confusion from the writers part. He mustve mistakenly thought since we were born anatomically "men" and have become transsexuals then it followed for him were "transsexual men"! Does proofreading still exist nowadays?!?

And lastly (and I may be pushing it   ) but the use of the word "third" to refer to hierarchy of gender is absolutely chauvinistic! So men therefore are best at everything by far??? I dont think so, gurlfriend! *snaps-snaps, swivel*   Men and women ARE equal and male-to-female transgenders ARE women therefore there is no "third gender" at all. (And the fact that I started my last sentence with "Men and women" rather than the other way around is CLEARLY a manifestation of a testosterone-crazy society!) *throws hands into the air* I give up!

It already seems wrong in many ways. "Secret"? What is secret? Only to the foreign female writer is it secret.

And transsexual "men" shows whoever wrote it knows nothing about the correct words to use. The right words are "Transsexual Women".

Statuesque, Ladyboys are called prapet thii saam in Thai. The Third Sex. So this part is not wrong, just a translation.

I guess we will never get a good writer for this subject. So many books. So many bad.

Are you sure Mr. Sereemongkonpol was the one who wrote that?
It would seem that Mrs. Aldous is the primary Author and most likely responsible for the text.
Quick to judge the man, eh?

I do agree with your overall judgment of the poor choice of words and descriptions, however.
