Yes just when you thought there were already too many 5* hotels in Bangkok, Sofitel go and open another one. This is not the one I thought it was going to be which is on the site of the old Clinton Plaza around Soi 15 but rather just past the Grand Dynasty in Soi 6 and probably 400m from Nana Plaza.
Details are www.accorhotels.com but it looks very nice and has according to the webiste an opening special price valid through October of some 3200 baht or about US$85 - If they have used similar design to the Sofitel Silom, the rooms will be very nicely done. Also has a load of one bedroom apartments as well as rooms which sounds a nice option. No idea if its LB friendly but at least it will help keep all the other hotels at sensible prices, notably the Majestic Grande.
