Thanks to Crag's advice I signed onto LINE chat in the middle of last year. Luckily I carried a little pocket notepad every year I visited Thailand and started plugging in my friends' telephone numbers. Doesn't cost anything. Even got free video chatting which is neat. Surprising to see their faces even though I can't understand what they're trying to say. Glad I collected my taxi company's business card so listen up if you need a reliable taxi driver.
This is the girl across the street from Sunshine Hotel in Pattaya Beach. She mans a desk on the steps of the 7-11 store and works more than 8 hours a day. She is very reliable and trustworthy. Company is Sinmahat Travel. Ben's phone number plugged into LINE is Thailand 093-137-2119, and her partner Angie is Thailand 086-366-7204. LIne either one of them to make reservations. I asked these girls to pick me up at Suvarnbhumi last November. She assigned me a driver named Nadit and gave me his LINE name. He agreed to pick me up at midnight, but my plane arrived an hour earlier. So since I didn't have a local True SIM card yet I asked a airline assistance to call Nadit to come over immediately. This helpful chap escorted me to the luggage claim area and collected my bags. Again called Nadit where we would come out. To my surprise we walked out the door at the same floor to Nadit and his taxi. Didn't even have to walk down to the bottom floor where I usually have to hail a strange taxi driver who almost always never turns on the meter. Angie prearranged the cost at B600 to take me to Pharchara Hotel plus a B200 tip. I arranged to have him pick me up 2 days later to transport me to Pattaya. He showed up an hour ahead of time. Efficient guy with a nice Thai smile. BKK to Pattaya was B1400 plus another B200 tip. I like having a driver I can trust and reserve. After my Pattaya vacation, Angie arranged to take me back to BKK's Novotel Sukhumvit Hotel. Trips out of Pattaya cost a bit more. I trust Angie so paid whatever the price was and again a B200 tip. She was nice and drove me in her brand new black SUV. Traffic in the day is always thick and slow. After 2 days Nadit again arrived early to deliver me to Suvarnbhumi Airport. Really glad I never had to hassle with worried about getting hijacked by strange drivers. Takes a load off my mind.
It's good to find out when your destination hotel's check in time is. That's why I scheduled my departure from BKK at exactly noon so I would arrive at 2 PM when Sunshine's check in time is on the dot. Same for Novotel 4's 2 PM check in time.
In the future I can look forward to getting a taxi waiting for me should I arrive from Phuket to Utapao Airport. Was almost ripped off by a sloppy driver who wouldn't drop me off right at the hotel. Made me drag my luggage 100 meters.
